Q: N-Cap Safety rating for a Toyota Yaris. Is the website a liary liar?
N cap safety rating - It says that the 2006 Toyota Yaris has five stars. But this for the T3 model. The T3 has nine air bags. There is also a 2006 Yaris that does not have these airbags. It is called the T2. What safety rating does the T2 Yaris have? And is there anywhere on the Ncap website I can find out?

A: European NCAP 2000 Toyota Yaris: http://www.euroncap.com/tests/toyota_yaris_2000/74.aspx 2005 Toyota Yaris: http://www.euroncap.com/tests/toyota_yaris_2005/246.aspx US IIHS http://www.iihs.org/ratings/ratingsbyseries.aspx?id=589 You'll have to drill down to get the NHTSA's NCAP results for the Yaris/Echo: http://www.safercar.gov/

Q: whats this I hear about a Toyota Yaris recall in the UK?
does this mean that the 2006/2007 YARIS models will not be sold? please advise . Thank you.

Q: Where to buy or part number of Yaris cabin / pollen air filter?
I found the location behind the glove box of the cabin air filter in my 2006 Yaris sedan. I called the Toyota part department at Phil Gilbert and they said they do not stock it. I want to order the filter housing and the filter media. Does anyone know the toyota part number or where I might purchase them ?

A: The cabin air filter is not available aftermarket yet. The dealer can get two types of filters for the 06. The first is the plain paper filter ..p/n 87139-52020 The second is an electro-static model recommended for people with allergies The p/n for this one is 87139-YZZ08

Q: Toyota Yaris vs. Matrix?
I'm starting to look for a new car and am torn between the Yaris and the Matrix. My monthly payments would be the same for a 2007 Yaris as for the 2006 Matrix. The Yaris is slightly better on gas, but the Matrix is bigger and has 4WD. Anyone with first-hand experience with these cars? Can you help with a list of pro's and cons? Thanks! (I've tried the comparison side-by-side on the net, that just gives specs, I need personal feedback) planning a trip accross Canada to move some personal belongings. Matrix would let me hitch a UHaul, Yaris - no. But I don't want to pick my car based on one job I need to do either.

A: oh gee, buy a general motors vehicle, why would you want that cheap foreign crap anyway. when you get slammed into at 60 miles an hour by a chevy suburban youre gonna be really sorry you were sitting in one of those cheap little cracker boxes

Q: On a Toyota Yaris where do you put water for the refridgerator? can i use plain water?
not the 2006 yasris (the older model) hey!! thank all of ya! and yes there is a refridgerator under the hood i hope its good for cooling my budweisers :P

A: Although i don't own a yaris there is a bottle with generally (but not always) a black cap, it is called an expansion tank for the water and normally found on the right hand side of engine bay when looking from the font, be sure to only fill to the maximum mark only, overfilling will cause possible damage to cooling system of car if overfull. The task itself is very easy to do and yes you can use plain water although not really recommended as tap water contains lime etc although i use plain water myself! If when the car is hot if your heaters don't give out warm/hot air that is a sign that the car needs more water! However although very simple task and only takes few minutes to complete, PLEASE make sure that the car has not been used recently as the water will be hot still and as you remove the cap it may let steam out causing you to get burnt!!! Good luck and hope this helps

Q: Should I buy a Toyota Yaris?
I currently drive a 2006 hyundai elantra. after financing, the total price came out to be around 18,000. (i owed some on my beetle that i traded in) should i buy a yaris? would my payments be lower or should i just stick with what i have? just wondering if its a logical decision...

A: I would imagine you are upside down on the Hyundai as well. Yaris is a good little car, but when optioned out can be more than a larger Corolla. You would also not be likely to get all that much on your trade (book is $11000 - $12500 depending on the trim level). Your best bet is to stay with what you have. The Elantra is not a bad car, and even beat out some of the big boys in head to head tests.

Q: 2007 Toyota Yaris Automatic Sedan Strange Noises?
During the summer my car was making really awful screeching noises every other week or so when I turned it on with the A/C on. It's stopped doing that. Now when I turn the car off, it's hooting at me. Like an owl. What's wrong here? She has 60,542 miles on her. I got her in July 2006. I get my oil changed religiously every 7000 miles.

A: Have the belt tightened up a bit. As for the owl noise, that's probably the A/C letting out pressure from the system. Just in case, have a vacuum test done to make sure there isn't any leaks.

Q: My car's steering produced some "clucking" sound when turning, does anybody have the same problem?
It's Toyota Yaris 2006 and only 18,000 km.

A: cvc axle bad

Q: I can't decide between an astra or yaris?
Should I buy a 2007 Toyota Yaris YRS 1.5L Auto or a Holden Astra 2006 CDX 1.8L Auto? I can't decide which. Both are used cars, the Astra seems like a better car with a better finish, etc and both are within 1000k of each other, however the astra has done 30,000 more ks. Which is a better car?

A: as you said astra has a better finish and it looks nicer, most of the japanese cars arent but their engine are the BEST. so if you are looking for a car that it will keep running ( literally ) forever choose yaris. it has the cheapest parts, mileage as any other car and engine that even with no oil still runs.. the other though you can resell it for higher price any time (in compare w/ yaris) .you choose!

Q: current draw conversation?
hello again, i have been asked what i am trying to do. simply put, i installed a set of aftermarket power windows in a 2006 toyota yaris. the windows have an inline fuse of 15 amps for both windows per the instruction manual. this fuse is tied into a 12 gauge 50 amp supply line turned on by the ignition. there was a failure with the fuse box. after inspecting all my wires which showed no burned or discoloring of the wiring , connectors insulation or any melting of the plastic around the fuse holders i decided to have it towed to the dealer where right away they blamed the aftermarket windows and that they would have to charge me for a new fuse box . my thought was that if the windows caused the problem there would be evidence of this. i have paid the $850 and will argue the point with the regional mgr. i was looking for proof to provide to them. i have also taken a 3, 5 and 10 amp fuse in line to the power windows with only the 3 & 5 amp blowing with melt away break not any black marks

A: Without getting into a bunch of useless detail, you modified a factory system which in turn voided your warranty. Ive seen this happin many times working in the dealership, the company that made your a/m power windows determines thier diagrams based on previous year wiring info ,manufacturer`s themselves update wiring diagrams indefinatly,in many cases the info can be incorrect as i suspect happened to you. Good luck with your rep, keep in mind, attitude is everything when dealing with a factory rep.

Q: Car below 15,000?
Can someone please name me some good cars below 15,000 someone already said Chevrolet Aveo 2006 & Toyota Yaris 2007, any more? Thanks in advance!

A: 2007 Ford Focus starts @ $13995 Has a better warranty than any other vehicle in this price range In Chicagoland region Ford will rebate $2500 (+) Your region may offer more or less go to http://www.fordvehicles.com to see what offers are available in your area They also come in many body styles and/or trim levels so you have alot more versitility to chose the one thats right for you!

Q: What's the best car insurance?
I'm about to get a car, it will be my first car, and I know the insurance will be more expensive because I just turned 19, but how much should I expect to pay and what is the best insurance I should get? I live in Southern California (Redondo Beach) and I have a 2006 red toyota yaris. Thanks.

A: I would go with either Geico or Progressive. They tend to be the cheapest companies for teen drivers. It's hard to give you a ballpark number without knowing a bit more information, and every person is different. One insurance company might be cheaper for you and more expensive for someone else. There are alot of different factors that insurance companies look at to determine your rate. Here are some questions to think about that the insurance companies will ask you. How is your driving record? Are you going to be on your parent's policy? Are you male or female? Does your car have safety features? Are you a good student? The single best thing you can do to get the cheapest auto insurance possible is to do your research. It might take a little bit of effort but the more you shop around, the more likely you are to find a good rate. I found the website below really helpful because it allows you to compare rate quotes for all of the insurance companies in your area for free. Good Luck!

Q: Would you believe that Toyota is nowhere as good as thought?
I have done quite a bit of research, and I would disagree with most people and say GM is the best car company. Just look at this http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2006/10/toyota_quality.html Toyota has had the most recalls in 06, and looks to keep it that way in 07. GM swept the NACTOY (North American Car of the Year) with their Saturn Aura and Chevy Silverado, a feat done only once before by Honda in 2006. Need proof: http://www.autoblog.com/2007/01/07/gm-sweeps-north-american-car-and-truck-of-the-year-awards/ In MotorWeeks Drivers Choice award the Saturn also won best sedan. http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/07/chicago-auto-show-motorweek-drivers-choice-awards/ Funny thing? No Toyota models won. If Toyota was really the best wouldnt they have actually won a best model? Not just the most eco-friendly. If Toyota was really that good why is the Corolla placed 5/6 in Car and Drivers test of small sedans, and why is the Yaris dead last in SmartMoneys? You tell me why Toyota is so good. P.S. If you found this info helpful or interesting please star this question so I can get the word out. Still think GM cant compete? Read these I put the reviews lowest first so you can see which one is more problematic. Now tell me what car YOU think is better. Chevy Impala: http://www.edmunds.com/new/2007/chevrolet/impala/100757493/ratings_consumersdetail.html?dcr_usein=n&modelid=100516801&tid=edmunds.n.ratings_consumersdetail.content..2.Chevrolet*&dcr_sid=all&sortby=lowestRate Saturn Aura: http://www.edmunds.com/new/2007/saturn/aura/100715083/ratings_consumersdetail.html?dcr_usein=n&modelid=100505067&tid=edmunds.n.ratings_consumersdetail.content..2.Saturn*&dcr_sid=&sortby=lowestRate Toyota CAmry: http://www.edmunds.com/new/2007/toyota/camry/100699452/ratings_consumersdetail.html?dcr_usein=n&modelid=100506010&tid=edmunds.n.ratings_consumersdetail.content..2.Toyota*&dcr_sid=&sortby=lowestRate Its not even close, the Saturn had way better reviews. Still not convinced? Check this out http://www.caranddriver.com/tenfivebest/ The ranking in Car and Drivers ten/five best is almost exactly the same as MotorWeeks. Car and Driver bases their results off of professionals, unlike Consumer Reports, which I find as biased because they send out surveys to find their data. The surveys cannot avoid the perception that GM=bad, Toyota=good. In a professional test, the cars are rated by experts who know how to pick a good car, and they are still with the idea Toyota is the best. Toyota only got 1 model, Gm got 2, but Honda dominated with 4. The Tahoe/Yukon was really deserving of the Pilots spot, but I am pretty sure neither were tested, as there is no huge SUV in the photo of all the vehicles that were tested. Heres Automobile Magazines "All-Stars" list for 2007. http://www.automobilemag.com/features/awards/2007_all_stars/0701_all_stars/index.html Lets see, 0 Toyotas, 0 Fords, 1 Honda, and 1 GM. Toyota can only hide so much of their downfall before people realize its time to come home. If Toyota had never entered the US market, the economy would be much better. The Us economy follows Detroits big three, whenever the domestic auto industry is doing well, the economy is doing well. It is time to let people know the truth about Toyota, for the better of us all. Lets look at the Silverado VS Tundra. The Silverado has a bad reputation, which I am willing to admit because until 2007 they have only been cheap, company trucks. Even with that the 07 Silverado has managed to win the most famed award, Motor Trend truck of the year, as well as the NACTOY which is based off 49 editors opinions. The Silverado has won all but one "best truck" award that I can think of, that went to the Honda Ridgeline. The Tundra has cut many corners, making Toyota more money on an overpriced lemon. One of the worst ones is they used an open "C" channel truck frame while everyone else has gone the stronger route with a fully boxed frame. Toyota also said in a press interview, that they purposely kept the body panel gaps large, to get it a more masculine look (really, it was done to compensate for the flexing that the "C" frame will cause). Toyota is supposed to have "impeccable" quality, but that has obviously not carried over to the Tundra, or ANY new Toyota.
