Q: 2002 Toyota Tundra Starting Problem?
My Tundra sometimes starts normally, but other times I have to turn the key 2, 3, 4 or more times before the engine cranks. When it fails to crank when I turn the key, I hear a "click" noise. I have had it to the dealer, but they said that they could not reproduce the problem. Does anyone know how to fix this?
A: Being that it's an 02 have you replaced the battery yet? Most batteries only last 5 years and then you have to replace it. You could also have dirty connections. If your hearing the starter click and not engage it can be several things from dirty connections to low battery and also starter goign bad.
Q: what is the spark plug gap supposed to be for a 2002 toyota tundra 4.7?
A: Getting the plugs from the dealer will give you pre-gapped plugs, but if you must know, the gap is .032
Q: Ram-Air Hoods for the 2002 Toyota Tundra V8?
I am looking for a fully functional ram air hood to fit my truck.
A: You're kidding right?
Ram air, is a myth. Or rather, it's a myth for any normal car on the road.
Especially on a fuel injected vehicle.
Think about it. Your intake, isn't on the top of your engine. It's to the front, near your bumper.
So scoops on your hood? Won't get air anywhere near your intake.
So ZERO function.
It also won't reduce heat in the engine bay, because there's too much positive air pressure in there. Cold air simple doesn't get in, in enough volume, to make a difference.
Ram air has been disproven, about 20 years ago....but it sure sounds nice, to say you have a ram air hood. Might as well buy some high performance blinker fluid, while you're at it.

Q: can not find the keyless ecu on 2002 Toyota Tundra it isn't under the seat?
A: The keyless ECU is above the brake pedal, but it is hard to find.
Take a look at this post on tundrasolutions.com and focus in on reply #7. Lot of good supporting information and pictures there too.

Q: Is it possible to convert a 2002 Toyota Tundra to be wheelchair accessible? haven't heard back from dealer...
A: ...anything is possible given enough time and money. It depends on how impaired you are.
If you're paraplegic, you can probably modify the seat riser on the drivers seat to act as a lift, and install a small crane either in the cab (if it is an extended version) or in the box to accommodate your chair.
I'm struggling to figure out how to adapt it for use if you're a quad. I'm not sure how you could accomplish transfer to the vehicle seat, and I'm not sure how you could maneuver a wheel chair in the cab of the truck (it'd be too small in height and width).
Now that I think about it, if you're para, you'd need to be able to manage a transfer to use the vehicle seat.
The controls wouldn't be any different from any other vehicle.
Q: 2002 Toyota Tundra Funky Screaming Noise When Starting?
Hello Everyone. I have a question for ya'll regarding an 02' Tundra with the 4.7L V-8 and auto transmission and some funky starting. I drove about 5 miles and ran into a store, left this store, drove to another about 1 mile away, parked, ran in for 5 minutes then came back. When I started the truck, it started rather weakly. It didn't kill, it just sort of sounded weak. SO I drove home, which is about 2 minutes away, and decided to do turn it off, wait a few seconds and start it again. When I cranked the engine, it let out a horrible scream, sort of like when you hear someone start a car whose engine is already running. It didn't start, it just stumbled while screaming and didn't start. I tried again....same thing. I tired a third time...same deal. I lifted the hood, nothing looked obvious, belt in place. SO tried again...it started w/o mishap. I tried randomly throughout the afternoon, nothing out of the ordinary happened. I drove to work today and to the store. No mishaps. Any ideas?
A: could be serpentine belt is to tight and also could be a weak starter
Q: is a 2002 Toyota Tundra 2WD Access Cab SR5 V8 a good first car why or why not (other then gas)?
i am 16 an i like to dirtbike so i will be carrying that around alot and i like to drive people places and i will have to do some off roaing to get my friends out of tough spots
A: It is not a good first car to drive. Trucks traditionally have very very large blind spots, and are not necessarily safer than sedans. That Toyota will be reliable, and a good vehicle for hauling goods, but I would suggest a 4x4 SUV. Some good ones are the Suzuki Grand Vitara, the Toyota 4Runner, and a used Land Rover.
Q: how to remove speakers from toyota tundra 2002?
A: that is NOT a do-it-yourself job, my friend. definately get a pro to do it.
Q: will my toyota tundra 2002 use e85 fuel?
A: I don't see any e85 Toyotas on the list.
But check out the websites below. GM is not the only automaker with e85 compatible vehicles.

Q: Is anyone else having trouble with their 2006/2007 Toyota front end paint finishes?
I have a 2006 Toyota Tundra (4,000 miles) and a 2007 Camry with 5500 miles bought from the same dealership on the same day. The front end paint finishes on both have numerous chips and dings. When I compare that with my 2002 Toyota Echo with 47,000 miles on it, the paint finish is in better shape.
I am thinking the dealership either didn't prep the front end or it is a factory defect. After 3 or 4 months I wouldn't think the finish should have as many chips as it does. Any thoughts?
A: This may be irrelevant, but I had a 2003 Corolla with the same problem on the sides of the vehicle. In 11 months, one dogleg was down to the primer and had started to rust ( and yes, I had FACTORY mudflaps from day 1!) I worked at the dealership that I bought it from and they hemmed and hawwed, finally said they would repaint it, but it would do the same thing again because Toyota was using a new water-based paint. I went to another dealership and they laughed and showed me to the door. BTW, I had only owned the car for 11 months, and had approx 10,000 miles on it. So much for "Toyotas' Quality" I traded the vehicle for a 2003 Dodge Neon, it still has the paint on it! I'll never own another Toyota! I have also heard that the trucks have paint problems also, but I don't know that first hand Sorry for the long rant.
Q: How to keep mice and squirrels out of my blower fan?
I found out that a mouse or squirrel had built a nest in my blower fan on my 2002 Toyota Tundra and want to know how they get in and how I can keep them out.
A: little blighters can get in anywhere...not much you can do to stop them.
Q: I don't have a question, I have a warning. Team Toyota is not a reputable place to buy car. pappee16@yahoo.com
I went to Team Toyota, O’Neal Lane, Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Friday, December 9, 2005 at 1:00 pm, to have my brakes repaired on my 2000 Toyota Tundra 137,000 miles.
My daughter’s car needed tires, it had electrical problems and a few other things wrong with it, so we were going to see if Team had something we could afford and trade in just the 1999 Camry. Well we were too upside down, (owed more than the car was worth) so we told them okay, and were leaving Team going to get something to eat while my truck brakes were being repair.
Well all of sudden this man comes out identified himself as Karl Jones and says come back in and let him see what he could do for us. Karl Jones does some fast talking about how we need to trade both car and truck in a newer version with a 100,000 mile warranty on each. Sticker price on 2003 KIA Sedona $15,995 and the sticker price on the 2002 Toyota Tundra was $23,995. I told Mr. Jones that I couldn’t afford to trade both vehicles in and that I didn’t want the warranties. Well with his high pressured tactics saying oh but you need this, you can’t afford not to, the note will not be but $100 difference on the notes you already, well the note went up $125 (1999 Camry note $286)(2003 KIA Sedona car note $412.15) and went up $187 (2000 Toyota Tundra note $398)(2002 Toyota Tundra $589.88); I ending up trading both vehicles in with warranties, gap, life insurance, and Toyota Auto Care Prepaid Maintenance Program car after care (oil changes) of which he said he was going to throw that in. Gary in Service told me that Chiquita Kingdom told the repair shop not to repair my truck because a deal was being work for me, because when I went to check on my truck it still had not been touched (in fact my 2000 Toyota Tundra Truck wasn’t repaired until late Monday evening December 12, 2005.
My 2000 Toyota truck (136,000 miles on it) into a newer model is now on sale at Team Toyota for $12,885 when I bought it in 2002 it had 75,000 mile on it and I paid $15,000.
Well with all of Karl Jones’ high pressured tactics saying oh but you need this, you can’t afford not to, the note will not be but $100 difference on the notes you already had, before I knew it I was leaving Team Toyota with two different cars with notes well over the $100 more that he quoted me and warranties that I said I didn’t want.
February 23, 2005, I had to buy 4 tires for the KIA Sedona. When a person pays $15,000 for a vehicle, you should not have to buy tires for a least a year or more.

A: Hindsight is 20-20.
The first rule of buying...if they need an answer today, the answer is NO, ALWAYS!!! Take a couple of days to check out all the details, then make an informed decision. Remember it is your money and you have to live with your decision!
Q: Sugar was put in my gas tank. i didnt notice it until i drove it for 40 mile. Is my engine repairable?
Also, approximately how much is this going to cost me. Its a 2002 Toyota Tundra 8 cylinder 2wd.
A: oww that's not good
it's a shame to ruin a good motor but unfortunatly it is ruined
if you go with a junkyard engine your looking at about 1000$ for the engine alone
a rebuilt engine will cost you about $2500 to $3000
and if you go get one from the dealer ......... well i wouldn't the vehicle's blue book won't be that much
