Q: Toyota Maintance question?
I got a Toyota Tercel 1996, 157K, and I found that its powersteering is about to go out, and I want to change the timing belt, and get the braking system fix up too. So how much am I looking at to fix all those. Also, the engine check light is on, what kind of problem it can be. Thanks,

I have a 1996 Toyota Tercel and my check engine light came on. Took it to autozone and they did a diagnostic and they said that the EGR valve needs to be replaced. They quoted me at $154.99 for the part and then I'd have to get it installed. Does this seem reasonable for the part? (I'm not much of a car guy) and what should the total repair cost me? Also, is the part essential to driving the vehicle? I know that it has to do with emissions control and more efficient burning of gas, but is it going to effect me at all if I drive it for the next week without getting it fixed?

Q: Car Cigarette Lighter broken?
I recently have bought many items that plug into my car cigarette lighter output in my 1996 Toyota Tercel and one time I think I might have pulled out the adapter too fast. I heard a click inside like a metal part might have broken or the fuse might have gone bad, but it seems that whenever I plug in an adapter to charge my phone, or gps, or fm transmitter, it doesn't work anymore. Is there anyway that this problem can be fixed? I am not tech savy when it comes to opening up parts of the car and fixing wires together or anything like that so is there anyway I can get this problem fixed or if I can get a new whole piece which I can put in for cheap? I don't want to go overboard with this car since it already is very old. I just need to fix this one piece because I have many uses for it now. I dont know where the fuse box is in this car.
