Q: 1993 Toyota Tercel almost but no dice.?
Recently I asked aboutthe fuel pump on my tercel. Well just now I tried starting it a again, this time I pumped the gas peddle. I can smell gas. I checked my air filter and its filtthy.my dads rolling over he taugt me better, sigh. anyway could this possibly keep it from starting? It sounds like it wants to crank but just doesnt. Your help and patience with me is appreciated, well not as appreciated as just coming over and fixing it would be but I cant have everything can I? lol

A: If your air filter is filthy chances are your fuel filter is too. You may want to take a look at that. The fuel filter could most likely prevent it from starting, I'm not for sure on the air filter though. Just if you're air filter is that bad, I'm sure the fuel filter isn't exactly clean either.

Q: toyota tercel 1993 cranked up ,but only for a short time.?
ok if i put no gas to it ,it starts. soon as i put the gas peddle down it dies. Fuel filter or fuel tank, any easy way to tell? If its the fuel filter Im attempting that myself, fuel pump Im up a creek. thanks in advance.

A: most people need more specific info. to give an intelligent GUESS sure it could be the filter(get the arrows pointed the right way) shine a lite on the carb. float bowl window or spray some carb. cleaner in the carb. yeah it could be the fuel pump or the timing belt? a little more info and somebody could be right, by the way your doing the cheapest thing and its a common occurance that needs replaced at least once a year

Q: Where, in God's good name, is the EGR valve located on a 1993 Toyota Tercel?
Manufacturer's date is 11/92. The engine is EFI, a 1.5L and has a standard tranny. I've already looked around the manifold and even though my Haynes manual gives me the pic for where this part is suppose to be, it just isn't there! Nothing looks tampered with so if you got any ideas, please, help. holy crap! you guys don't have a freakin clue as to what you're answering! oh well, loox like plan b...

A: EGR Engine Gas Recirculator Valve is on the valve cover with a rubber hose connecting it to the air intake system. this takes gas from inside the engine and returns them to the incoming air charge to reduce emissions. (They have no wires) I could find it with my eyes closed are yo sure you know how to open the hood?

Q: Is there any website where I can check auto part compatibility?
Like if I wanted to find out if the headlights from a car will fit in my 1993 Toyota Tercel.

A: Osram Sylvania - Lamp Replacement Guide http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProducts/AutomotiveLighting/LampReplacementGuide/

Q: I am having electrical issues with my car what is my best option?
I did a motor swap in my 1993 toyota Tercel and my buddy left it running with the hood off in the rain all of a sudden it quit running and now I don't have any power to the starter, the ECU, fuel pump and no pulse to the injectors. Is there a fuseable link that runs just those items or possibly a relay that I am overlooking or should I just try to find a parts car and replace the whole harness and fuse blocks and relays? car was running before rain. battery connections are fine no blown fuses in main fuse block or alternate fuse block. ohm meter shows that some wires are not getting very high ohms.

A: well first of make sure water did not cause a bad battery connection start from the battery first then work you way down must use a test light and or a meter, if you have battery test all wires from battery cause the main assay wire is on the + side of battery and u lose that connection u will have what your talking about, and never leave the hood off when n it rains u may also need to make sure all computer conections are dry and may need to use compressed air to remove it, with a test light you van see if it has a blown fuse this is the only Way to tell use a test light there in inexpensive and sold almost anywhere pep boys auto zone kragen Wall Mart good luck, also make sure he did not foget to install any of the engine grounding cables to the engine block did it run before the rain ?

Q: I have a Toyoya Tercell 1993 and i have change the brack pad ( r ) and i have to ajuste the handbrack HELP !!!
Lake i did change the brack pad on my toyota tercel 1993 and i ned to adjuste the hand parking and the padel.

A: If I'm not mistaken, you have drum brakes on a "93" Tercell. I could help you, but it's not enough information for me to know what you are looking at. You can go to the library and look at a manual, and it should tell you how to adjust them. You wouldn't believe how much information is at the library, or you can go to Autozone and purchase a book on your car that will help you get her back on the road in no time. Good Luck!

Q: Whats the firing order for a toyota tercel 1.5?
I think this is either a 1.5 or a 1.3. Need the firing order please. Its a 1993 model.

A: the firing order on all 4 cyl engines is 1-3-4-2

Q: Car Body two toned because of oxidation HELP PLEASE?
I have a 1993 Toyota Tercel that has severe oxidation on several of the car's original panels. Can anyone suggest how I can get this oxidation taken care of and the rest of the car to shine like the replaced hood and right finder that were replaced in 2003 after an accident? Thanks

A: Go to the parts store and ask for "Color Back" It comes in an orange squeeze bottle.

Q: How do I install a new antenna in my car?
I have a 1993 Toyota Tercel. The antenna is the kind that collapses into the roof frame next to the windshield. You can see where it is in this picture: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/87/4th-Toyota-Tercel-coupe.jpg I just got a new radio and the antenna connection doesn't work. I bought a new one, took out the old antenna, and tried to install the new one. Unfortunately it is harder to install than I thought. Apparently I need to remove the fount fender on the driver's side. The main thing I need to know is how to remove the fender. I tried, but couldn't find all the bolts.

A: You just need to get the correct tool to cut the antenna wire and fasten on the correct connection.. Presto, you plug into the back of your new radio. The tool and the connection will probably cost you over $20 bucks.. Why not just call around and ask a shop that has the tool and connection to install the radio for you for $35 bucks.. People need money nowadays

Q: Question about leaving key in the start position?
I will try to make this short. The other day I driove home from work and my car a Toyota Tercel 1993 was running great. Got out of the car to go the pharmacy and came back in to wait. I turned the key to the start postion a left it for about two to three minutes without starting the car just to run the fan. Got my precription and started the car and I noticed it was running rough. Drove home (20 minutes) and it still was running rough. Checked out for leaking vacum lines and none were found. Made sure all wires were tight and they were. Started the car and took one wire at a time off of the distributor. Found that #3 did not make any difference in the shake. Place it back on and it ran smooth for a second or two and ran rough again. I am yet to check out if the plug if fouled. Also have to check the distributor and rotor if it is burnt. Leaving the key on would this possibly cause a problem. I was thinking that since the ignition is electronic it may. Any suggestions would be helpful.

A: Yes, check your cap and rotor, you could of caused a burn spot on that cylinder as well as fouled the plug. A tune up should solve your issue.

Q: Does a 'salvage' title have religious meaning?
I recently bought a 1993 Toyota Corolla with 168,000+ miles on it for $19,750, which is somewhat expensive compared to older Tercel's with similar mileage. But the seller, who approached me in a parking lot, said the car had been blessed by Pope John Paul II on a US visit several years ago, hence the 'salvage' title. Am I correct in my understanding that a 'salvage' title indicates the car has been blessed, or 'salvaged' from a life of sin, by a major religious figure? The car needs new shock absorbers all around, and has a cracked head, but is otherwise in fair condition. D So...some of you SEEM to be suggesting that this car did not get an official audience with His Holiness, is that right? And that maybe I should have paid something closer to the KBB price of $2,000-2,500? Is that what I am hearing here? SHENANIGANS!! And thank you for playing...D

A: Are you kidding? Salvage means that VIN number was "Totaled" at some point by the insurance company. Then, someone went and "salvaged it", rebuilding it from whatever condition it was in. Never never never never ever buy a car with a salvaged title.
