Q: 2008 TOYOTA TACOMA 2 WD.?
I bought my wife a 08 Toyota Tacoma 2wd 5 speed manual transmission 4 cylinder back in February. Well in 7 months we have only put 3000 miles on this truck, the manual says, on initial break in go 5000 miles before service, I'm thinking to let all of the metal shavings in the Gear box to get broken in and to let everything get seated correctly. Well I have two free services that came with the truck from the dealership, since this oil in now 7 months old should I take it in for service? Or should I wait for the whole break in period 5000 miles?
Thanks!
A: The dealer probably used oil that is supposed to be changed every 3,000 miles or every 3 months which ever comes first. In your case I would go ahead and change your oil. You are 4 months over due. They do make oils that can last from 3,000 to 15,000 miles depending on the grade of oil....
Q: Toyota Tacoma 2008 model oil chnage?
what kind of oil should i get for a new 08' Tacoma and what is the recommended fuel?
A: IN YOUR MANUAL IT SHOULD SAY WHICH WIEIGHT & WHAT BRAND IS PREFERRED. I HAVE A 1997 TACOMA & I LOVE IT!!!! I USE HIGH-OCTANE FUEL. QUAKERSTATE.
Q: On my 2008 Toyota Tacoma, the temp gauge & heater/AC is broke & smells like radiatior fluid. What could it be?
Hey everyone. The temp gauge maxed tonight driving home from work, then went back to normal about 3 min later (like a pin dropping). Also, the heater is broken, and the engine light is on. It's dark (& still hot) so I didn't want to take a look tonight. But, just wonderin' your thoughts on what the problem is and, most importantly, can I drive it to the dealership (10 miles)? Thanks ahead of time!
A: Sounds like your heater core might have gone out on you not good better get it fixed.
Q: Truck Bed Cover Question for 2008 Toytota Tacoma Short-Bed. ?
I am planning on purchasing a cover for the truck bed of my 2008 Toyota Tacoma (5ft bed). Really, all I am needing is something to keep the truck bed dry during the "rainy season" here in N.CA. I would like something that is fairly easy to install, and a cover that is removable so that I can take it off during the other months.
Can anyone recommend a good cover that meets the above?
A: the easiest solution for you would probably be a soft tonneau cover. Most of the decent ones now have an aluminum rail that clamps onto the top edge of the bed and the tonneau clips on to it. When you don't want it covering the bed, you can just roll it up and strap it up towards the cab and it takes about 2mins to roll it back out and clip it down when you want to use it.
Most other alternatives are going to be more expensive and take more space, whether you get a hard tonneau cover or cap. A soft tonneau shouldn't cost more than a couple of hundred $ while a hard tonneau could cost you closer to a thousand and a cap could run several thousand.
Hope this helps.

Q: 2008 Tacoma Upgrade Help?
Heya Answers community!
I recently bought a 2008 Toyota Tacoma, V6/SR5/PreRunner, Automatic (before anyone ridicules me, my wife had to be able to drive it too....when I let her....hehe) and need help with upgrading it. Specifically, I am looking for relatively inexpensive performance upgrades; the truck isn't a mudder or hauler so I don't need a lot of extravagance.
I don't have a ton of experience with vehicle upgrades, I can do the work myself or with friends, we have the tools and know how, they just can't seem to give me suggestions without things turning in to a seven hour conversation about cars, and that is not my thing. Can anyone help me start a list of quality upgrades (meaning K&N intakes and stuff like that, I honestly don't know what that shite does, give me an F-16 and I can fix that pig!) that aren't bank breaking?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance all!

Q: Does the Toyota Tacoma automatic really have better fuel economy than the manual?
Looking at 2008 Toyota Tacoma mpg information the automatic gets slightly better mpg than the manual for comparable models. I'm curious if this is really true or just a result of the way fuel economy testing is carried out. And if it is true thoughts as to why?
I'm getting the figures off Yahoo - http://autos.yahoo.com/newcars/model/overview.html;_ylt=Asv9BVe3w4.ExwIYisDjs5AEc78F;_ylv=3?modelId=5574
2008 Toyota Tacoma 4X4 Access Cab V6 Automatic -> 16/20 mpg
2008 Toyota Tacoma 4X4 Access Cab V6 Manual -> 15/18 mpg
Toyota lists the following themselves:
4.0-liter V6 engine with 6-speed manual 4x4 (city/hwy) - 15/18
4.0-liter V6 engine with 5-speed automatic 4x4 (city/hwy) - 16/20
Why am I obsessing about this!??
A: Ive never thought a auto anything would get better gas mileage than a stick.
Q: V6 or V4 Toyota Tacoma??
I'm looking to buy a 2008 Toyota Tacoma, trouble is I'm not sure how much power I need. I want a truck simply to haul stuff in from time to time. Also, It's rare if I'll pull anything with it. My only thought with having a V6 is I live in the Midwest and the winters can be harsh. I just don't want to buy a 2-wheel drive 4 cylinder truck and get stuck all the time in the snow or ice during the winter. The price discrepancy between a V4 2-wheel drive and a V6 4-wheel drive is huge, almost $5,000. Can someone advise me on this? I've never owned a truck before. Thanks.
I should add, I own a manual (5-speed) car now, and I absolutely want an automatic for my next vehicle, just sick of the stick in the city. Hence, the reason I can't get a V4 with 4-wheel drive Tacoma.
A: Hey Rosemary my Toyota Tacoma was built by union workers in a GM plant in Baja California. So I drive an American vehicle.....or something
Q: all toyota tacoma owners/drivers help me out here i have some questions (any year)?
hey drivers. i need some help in my truck search. im starting to like the 2008 tacoma but any year will float my boat as long as i got a cd player and i can get the bed extender- chances are my first truck ainte gona be a new one. also, i want the double cab... what i need from you is an evaluation on your tacoma. i did all the research for the statistics and whatnot, but i want to see what actual drivers of the tacoma say about its "down" spots in the consumers magazine...
and just so you know what im aiming for- i want 4 wheel drive, double cab, short bed with bed extender.... like i said almost any year
so mainly what im looking for is
-hows the comfort of the seats? (along with backseats for a double cab)
-hows the ride? stiff, bumpy, but tolerable?
-they say the position of the front seat is uncomfortable..... is that true for you? and how is it uncomfortable?
-loud engine?
-how is it in the mountains? im gona be using my future truck to carry snowboards and dirt bikes.
-there alot of room in the backseat with double cab?
-hows the audio system?
-how would you rate the tacoma from 1-5 and why
-would you recommend the toyota tacoma?
any other problems or comments with your truck let me know i appreciate it..

A: I purchased my 07 short bed, double cab, 2wd auto. with the T.R.D. package and love it so far. It seems to have a fair amount of power for a V-6. For kicks i ran it at the track and it pulled off a 15.5 in the 1/4 which isn't bad for a truck. Fuel mileage is about 17 city/21-23 highway. The engine is a little noisy i can hear the valvetrain but it's not unbearable but then again i'm used to noise being a car nut. The ride seems to be fair and i have plenty of room being that i'm 6'6". I'm happy with the seats as far as comfortability is concerned. I have the basic single disc c.d. player, it's not too bad but wish i would've upgraded. I've hauled my dirtbike easily, just have to leave the tailgate down. The one downfall i've experienced was when i was pulling a trailer with a car on it. The trip was 350 miles all highway and it took me two tanks of gas to complete. My old F-150 seemed to tow a car and trailer more efficiently how i'm not sure being it's V-8 had about the same h.p. and torque. My best advice is take one for a test drive or possibly see if any rental agencies have one you can rent for a day. Hope this helps, good luck!
Q: Should I buy a Toyota Tacoma or Nissan Frontier?
Looking for a new 2008 truck.
A: Toyota Tacoma baby!
Q: Toyota Tacoma Gas Mileage?

A: 21mpg highway if you drive sanely.
Q: About the '08 Toyota Tacoma I may get?
I've been trying to decide between a 2003 V6 Tacoma and a new 2008 V4 Tacoma. Mostly it will be on the road and I think the 2008 V4 is a better choice. The 2003 I was looking at is a V6 with access cab and a camper roof and 17 inch tires. The 2003 obviously will eat more gas from weight and it being a V6.
Okay, so Tacoma 2008 new V4 regular cab, automatic, 2.7 liter engine. 2WD. Factory invoice price is $14,036 last I checked. Retail not sure but the sticker price at the dealership I went to was $17,035. Same dealership emailed me an "internet price" quote of $15,436.
Two things I wanted to get opinions/answers on. I'm thinking $15,436(before taxes) is an alright price for this truck as long as I refuse to pay any fees like "delivery fees" and other things that were already taken care of by the factory or whoever. Basically that price and necessary taxes by state law and that's it.
And the other thing is that I'm thinking this truck will be great for driving empty as in just me in the driver's seat and nothing in the bed. And will still be a good drive with a few hundred pounds of stuff in the bed and a hardshell camper roof. Am I right in this? Will the hardshell cause a top heavy issue?
Once I get a hardshell, it will stay on most of the time. So just that and me driving, I weight about 160 pounds.
Is the price and what the truck can do about right from what I have here?
Ya I dunno why I keep typing "V4" for 4 cylinder. I guess it's a bad habit some people have.
The 2009 I can take a look at. I tried asking the dealer if they can bump it up to the 2009 with the same $15,436 price but no luck there. Well so far, who knows. I'll have to ask about the ABS on both the 2008 and 2009 to compare. I do need a truck soon(which I'm not gonna say to the dealer) and if I wait a year, I may just end up comparing the 2009 to the 2010. I think the 2008 will be suitable for me for the right price.
Oh yeah with the 4 cylinder, I'd be getting a regular cab. Infact I wish they would still make V6 in regular cab. I don't have enough need for the access cab space and I'd rather discourage people from riding in my vehicle. I get bothered when there's 3 people in the car. One passenger is enough but I'm not planning on even that. Just me and my things.
A: I think the price is good. (It's I4 (inline 4), not V4, The V type engine is with 6 ore more cylinders.) Anyway, We had the same thing, regular cab with stick shift. Is We also had a 6 cylinder a year later with access cab, also stick shift. It will be fine on regular off road, like what you find in regular camping places. In the snow you will need snow tires (if you live in an area like that), but at tirerack.com you will be able to find very cheap and good tires.. For pricing on the truck in your area go to Edmund's.com, type your zip code an select Toyota, then Tacoma and it will give you a "true market value" which is what other people pay for that truck in your area. I think we paid around $15.000. My husband loved the 4 cylinder better than the V6. It was better on gas too. In my area, NY, it says the True market value is 15.145 minus $800 cash rebate (until Sept. 1) so that's $14345..
I added rear slide window in it (for $160), most of them come with that and We had it too and loved the little air. So maybe try to get the price down a little an/or visit other dealer. Make sure the access cab is big enough, my husband is 6' tall and was just enough. It should be enough truck for you though.. Good luck!
I saw that the '09 is expensiver, they added 6 airbags, 4 wheel ABS, traction and stability control!!! It's going to be little more expensive then '08 but it might worth it?
