Q: where is the fuel pump reset button on a 2000 toyota tacoma cyl.4 2wd single cab?

A: dont have one

Q: I want to change air filter in my toyota tacoma 2000.?
How much is an air filter? And if I bring to shop, how much they charge me for this service? Thank you

A: Why would you want to bring it to a shop? All you have to do is undo 4 clips and stick the filter in the air box. You don't even usually need screwdrivers or a socket set.

Q: 2000 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 3.4L fluid leak?
The fluid is leaking from the very front of my motor, right behind the pulleys. I suspect the water pump is going out. I checked all hoses and no fluid is leaking from there. What are the possibilities, and how much will it cost to fix?

A: First of all, what color is the fluid? Is it clear(power steering), pink, orange, yellow, or green(coolant)? Is the vehicle running hot? Any type of leak warrants repairs. It could be anything, so check the color of the fluid first. Water pumps and thermostats are usually first to go in the cooling system. Power steering problems on Toyotas are kind of rare unless it has tons of miles on it. Oil leaks are common in high mileage vehicles as well. Check the color (and odor if there is one) and get back to me. Add yahoo.com to my name and email.

Q: Should I sell my 2000 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner to Carmax/Dealer or on Craigslist?
I was planning on selling my truck and downsizing to a newer civic but in the last few days my Catalytic Converter died as well as two O2 sensors. Long story short, I've taken the truck to several shops and they've quoted the work to be between $900-$1000. Consequently, I had the Tacoma appraised at Carmax for sanity purposes and they offered 4750 which was lower than I had expected. The vehicle is in fair condition I would say according to Kelley Blue Book and has 132,000miles with newer brakes, power windows, TRD, etc...so should I sell as a trade-in or go the personal route? I need to sell it relatively soon in preparation for a new job in about 2 weeks. All opinions are welcome. More info on the vehicle is its the V6, 3.4L engine. As for why I havent replaced the sensors is why I posted this question originally. I was weighing the benefits of repairing the vehicle therein selling the vehicle the personal route. If I sold the vehicle to a dealer, I wouldn't have to incur the $1000 cost to fix my emissions related issues. Leaning toward taking up carmax on their offer...

As it is, I'm surprised you were offered as much as you were, from Carmax. That's a lot higher than I would have expected. I'd sell it to them. You can list it on Craigslist, but there's two main questions: 1. How are you selling the vehicle, if it is illegal to sell a vehicle that does not pass emissions? 2. Why haven't you fixed the sensors? Even then, given the economy right now...I'd say around $4,000 for the truck. KBB is great and all. But it doesn't reflect the fact that no one wants to buy vehicles right now....

Q: What makes a Toyota Tacoma a TRD Off Road?
My 2000 Toyota Tacoma Has no TRD stickers on it but it has a Factory locking differential, with the factory push button in the cab. I wanna know if that makes my truck a TRD.

A: The TRD package had different items included in different years. From Toyota it was known as package code "OF" and in 2000 it came with: Rear differential lock, 31" x 10.5" tires, front and rear alloy wheels with 15" diameter rims and 7.0" width rims, wheel opening moldings, black overfender wheel arch molding, logo/graphics exterior decoration, TRD badging, heavy duty alternate suspension; excludes: [KX] full color keyed package (Xtracab); includes: [TA] tachometer; requires: [FD] 4-Wheel Demand (4X4 V6) Note that the suspension is going to be Bilstein on the TRD. The problem is that Toyota sold a lot of these items as seperate options over the years and a lot of people have certain components with just a TRD sticker added in. The only way to truly tell if you have the full TRD package is to have a dealer pull up the option list on the VIN of your truck. They can tell you if it came from the factory with that option code. However in 95% of circumstances, if you have an e-locker, you have a TRD package. If you want to read all the ins and outs of the package and identifying marks, read this: http://www.tacomaterritory.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7647&page=1&pp=30 Pete

Q: how to adjust a drum brake in toyota tacoma 2000?

A: I assume you are talking about the rear brakes, if you jack the rear of the car up look at the backing plate of the rear drums and you will see an oval rubber insert, take it out and get a brake adjusting tool and stick it in the hole and adjust the adjusting wheel usually up and that will move the shoes out toward the drum, turn wheel until you feel the brakes having a slight drag on the brake drum and do the same equally on the other rear drum and your all set.

Q: Toyota Tacoma pop out window install?
I have a 2000 Toyota Tacoma that recently got the driver side pop out window bashed out. I ordered the window but when It comes, I'm not sure I can install it. I know the latch it on by a screw but I'm not sure how to take off the plastic covering to get to the other screws. The plastic covering is what is attached to the headliner and what not... Can someone please explain how I take the off to get to the core of inside-side of the truck?! Thanks in advance!

A: to get the inside door off, i doubt tacomas in that year range for the 95-2003 changed much..... you will need to take off all the visible screws which are limited, on the armrest and there, one on the door open handle and is usually a popout plastic insert on the front top corner of the door as well.... there are little plastic grippers attached to the door panel that need to be popped out by a screw driver but be careful on the window roller, the manual window opener handle. you NEED a special tool to get that off! believe me, i've broken that before, after that you should be dandy. if you have electric window/doors... your sos in me since i'm not familiar with that.

Q: Chevy S10 or Toyota Tacoma. Which is better?
I am looking at getting a used truck soon. I am debating between a 2000 Chevy S10 with about 89,000 miles on it, and a 2000 Toyota Tacoma with about 99,000 miles on it. They are both high mileage which usually means trouble, but which one is less likely to give me problems.

A: The Toyota Tacoma will have way less problems. The S10 isn't that bad of a truck, but it doesn't compare with the reliability of the Tacoma.

Q: What kind is my car engine: interference or non-interference? I have 2: Toyota Corolla 2002, & Tacoma 2000?
Which one is better: interference or non-interference engine?

A: well you need to say what size engine your vehicles have, v-6, I-4, i prefer non-interference which means if the timing belt/chain breaks you don't ruin the engine because of the pistons bashing into the valves. Repairing an interference engine can be very expensive if the timing system fails.

Q: What is a good suspension lift for Tacoma with TRD package?
I am looking for a suspension lift that will be reliable for a 2000 Toyota Tacoma with the TRD package lift on it. I am using 31" tires right now and wouldnt mind going to 32" ones. Any suggestions on a brand of kit that will give me the most for my money?

A: http://www.toyteclifts.com -these folks knows toyota suspension lifts. very good service to boot!

Q: toyota tacoma wheel locks up when stopping?
Just started experiencing this problem this winter with my 2000 Tacoma 4x4 auto tranmission, 133,000 miles. When it was freezing or below everytime I came to a stop the drive wheel on the passengers side would lock up. If I was on snow or ice the truck would go into a skid I could not get out of. If I take my foot off gas with truck in drive it would not roll forward. When I stepped on the gas there was a loud thump/bang sound and the wheel would release and the truck would go forward. If I shifted into reverse for a split second and quickly put it back in drive without stepping on the brake, there as no thump/bang sound and the truck would roll forward as normal. In the warmer weather when I stopped, the wheel would not fully lock up, but it would feel like the brake was slightly engaged or sticking; and if I took my foot off the gas sometimes the truck would roll forward and other times it would just sit there. The problem is worse if you depress the brake harder or quickly.

A: Bad pads. Get new ones

Q: Anyone has child safety seat in a Toyota Tacoma Ext Cab?
I'm considering to buy a used Toyota Tacoma, from years 2000 or newer, with the extended/extra cab. There is a rear fold-down for placing baby/child seats, but I'm not sure how well that works. Anyone here have a Tacoma Ext Cab with a child safety seat installed forward facing? Is there enough room back there to actually have one secured? How safe is it? What year/model Tacoma do you have? What brand/model seat did you use? Any pictures? What is your opinion from your experience? If it won't work in the Ext Cab, I guess I'll have to get a double cab. What year did they start making the double cab in the Tacoma? Thanks.

A: My dad has a car seat in his truck (2006 Toyota Tacoma) Not sure what extended cab means but it doesn't have an actual back seat. It's the kind that fold down from the side. The car seat fits fine in his truck. I don't have any photos of it but he takes my nephew on road trips to Cali all the time and has never had a problem.

Q: How much trouble is it to replace your own cylinder head on your vehicle?
Tools and space are not a problem and I'm thinking about doing this job myself. Any advice / ideas? It's a 2000 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 with the 2.7L 4 cylinder engine.

A: Did you hit your head again? I'd just buy another vehicle cause I didn't like that one. You drive like a nut (I was in total fear for my life) and I think if you bought a new vehicle, you'd be more responsible in your driving habits. And get the windshield replaced before I call the authorities on ya!
