Q: What is the best exhaust to put on a 1997 Toyota Tacoma 3.4L truck?

A: stock exhaust. if you do others you could have much trouble with running rich or lean, have a good pro do it if you are going to modify anything different from original specs

Q: Can i fit 33"s on my 1997 toyota tacoma without a lift?

A: Physically sure...safely, no...check your state regulations for "road worthy" vehicles. Go to summitracing.com you can get a lift kit for less than 1K...but I think 33" is a bit ambitious for a tacoma.

Q: 1997 Toyota Tacoma electrical problem....?
I just bought a 97 tacoma and after i drove it home i realized that neither the heater nor the cruise control were functioning. air blows from the vents but no heat, and the "cruise" light illuminates on the dash but it will not cruise. also i noticed that anytime the heater/ac fan is turned on, the ac button lights up, whether it is on or off. it is just the light, the ac works just fine along with the button. the truck has an aftermarket stereo installed and i cant help but wonder if all of this is tied into a poor wire splicing job behind the dash. any ideas on where i might find a wiring diagram online? or maybe this has happened to you and you could walk me through it? somebody out there, please help me, i live in washington and its too cold to be driving around without a heater... thanks

A: Go up to the dealer and get the diagram. I think they can evem email you a PDF of it if you want.

Q: jeep wrangler and toyota tacoma offroad mpg??
the two different vehicles im thinking about buying are a jeep wrangler or a toyota tacoma. each from around 1997 or something like that. I want to get a lift and get bigger tires for offroading. i dont want HUGE tires. just some that are a little bigger to help offroad. what are the miles per gallon originally on these vehicles (4wd, 6 cylinder)? and also what would be the miles per gallon on them if i got bigger tires? Any extra information or suggestions would be appreciated. thanks i dont mean what kind of milage do you get WHILE offroading. but what ill get on the road as a result of a lift and bigger tires.

A: It will be a couple miles to the gallon worse. Doesn't make a huge impact, but still makes an impact.

Q: gas milage of jeep wrangler and toyota tacoma with a 3-4 inch lift and slightly bigger tires?

A: 4 inch lift and taller tires creates more height causing more air underneath the vehicle and more drag (taller tires changes gear ratio but hardly effects gas this way) I would say above alterations would produce 3 less mpg

Q: Speedometer stoped working on my 97 Toyota Tacoma?
The speedometer dosent have a cable that I can see. Any auto tecs out there know where to check next? This truck has been great. This is the first thing thats gone wrong with the truck since I bought it new in 1997.

A: The speedometer in toyota tacoma is electric. If the wire to the tale shaft is cut or if the small nylon gear in the tail shaft is stripped it will not work. The fuse being blown would take out the whole instrument panel. Check the wire first. If it is the gear it can easily be replaced.

Q: Where can I get paint mixxed to manufactures paint code specifications in the San Jose,Ca. area?
Paint code is for a 1997 Toyota Tacoma: C/TR 751

A: Provided that your vehicle has never been repainted, the paint code should be on the trucks VIN plate.Your Toyota dealer can boot this info up in their system. They can either mix the paint for you or refer you to someone that can. Also most auto parts dealers that vend to repair shops have a device that takes a "picture" of your vehicles finish & mixes the paint to the finish that's on your truck.Even takes into account for sun-fade etc.

Q: 1997toyotapickupyruckcamewith1957514tiresinstalled2357515tireshowdoesthataffectspeedometer?
i have a 1997 toyota tacoma 2 wheel drive it came with 195 75 14 inch tires i replaced them with 235 75 15 inch tires how does this effect my speedometer

A: the 195/75/14 was the original tire for that vehicle, and by changing to a larger wheel size (15") and tire size 235 compared to 195 will cause your speedometer to read slower than your actual speed. there are kits available to change to the correct speedometer cable for your tire size.

Q: do it yourself repair on?
1997 toyota tacoma has squeaky frontend on left hand side truck is well maintened

A: It could be the shock absorber on that side of the truck, or it could be a noisy bushing. There is silicone lubricant for the bushings and replacing the shocks in most pickups is pretty easy. See if you can slide under the truck while someone bounces the bumper up and down. That may help you pinpoint the location of the noise.

Q: Buying First Car, Looking at Paseo...?
I am looking for my first car, and I found a 1997 Paseo (Toyota), coupe, stick, A/C, for 2995. I am 6'3'' and I regularly drive a 1995 Tacoma Reg. Cab; Im just wondering if A) the Paseo is a rough/noisy as the tacoma, and b) if i can even fit in the paseo without being a sardine. I think its ok, since my dads tacoma (the one i reg. drive) has 250000 and is goin strong... the paseo has 125000

A: hello. you're a big man, would you comfortably fit in a paseo? a test drive is not the way to 'feel' the change from truck to car. I drive a corolla 2003, and am sorta small (5'9"). good is good, but is it a 'comfortable' good? I drive on tarmaced roads, maybe you're in a more rural space. just a coupla thoughts for you.

Q: I need specifications for the timing on a 1997 toyota tacoma 4wheel dive pickup truck where do I look?
I am looking for timing specifications and reinstallment factors for the timing gears, chains, and timing cover for a 1997 toyota tacoma 4wheel drive pickup motor size 3RZFE. Where can I find information pertaining to this?

A: probably the owners manual.

Q: do it yourself repair on?
1997 toyota tacoma has squeaky frontend on left hand side truck is well maintened

A: For a 1997 vehicle, the squeak could be anything thing from a worn rubber bushing to a major suspension component. Your best bet is to take the vehicle to a mechanic and have the front end checked out. If it is a simple as a bushing, a little lube will get you going. If it is more, at least you'll have the peace of mind in knowing if your vehicle is still safe to drive. Hope this helps.

Q: do it yourself repair on?
1997 toyota tacoma has squeaky frontend on left hand side truck is well maintened

A: do the jumping test as recomended.also check the skid plate,at the lower control arm.usually you will hit something and bend the support plate or skid plate.pry them awa from each other. It could be it was installed incorrectly, remove and reinstall.
