Q: I need bed bolts for a 1996 toyota tacoma where can I find them and what size spacer do i need?

A: dealer or salvage yard

Q: Looking for websites to explain how i can lower my 1996 Toyota Tacoma....any help??

A: Generally, you can just bring it in to any auto-shop and the people there will check it out and tell you how. I'm not too experienced with that but it has something to do with the suspensions which are adjustable. If you want, you probably can find it in search engines.

Q: Is this a good buy, TOYOTA TACOMA 1996?
im looking at a 1996 tacoma, it has 119,000 miles and there asking for 15,000$ or best offer, canadian money that is. And theres another add for a 1996 tacoma with 135,000km for 13500$ or best offer, are these over priced? is a tacoma a good quality truck? HELP PLEASE

A: I have never own a truck before, but it has over 100k miles, its old truck. Think about long-term goal of this investment, plus repairs. I'm also confused with your pricing too. Do you mean $1,500.00 or $15,000 dollars? Without knowing the truck, it's hard to judge. If you are seeking for short-term goal, while saving money. I guess, it's okay for $1,500. Why would you want to pay for 13 years -old truck over $5,000 dollars?. Toyota Tacoma is small truck and it does not have a lot power. I would advised to ask your local mechanic or save your money for a down-payment and ends up with a nice looking truck, instead the piece of medal frame.

Q: Is my truck worth anything? 1996 Toyota Tacoma. Over 200,000 miles. Needs a new engine.?
Apart from the high mileage and the need for a new engine (the truck doesn't run) everthing else is okay. Someone said to advertise it for $1000 OBO. I'm not sure it is worth that much. Any advice would be fantastic. Thanks! Apart from the high mileage and the need for a new engine (the truck doesn't run) everthing else is okay. Someone said to advertise it for $1000 OBO. A: I'd agree with you. Look at what is for sale at http://www.craigslist.org for anything similar in your area and see what a similar vehicle sells for. You might be able to get $500 if the rest of the vehicle is in good condition.

Q: Toyota Tacoma 1996 TPS malfunction?
I used my OBDII sensor to read my "Check Engine" code. It came back with an error code: "P0510 Closed Throttle Position Switch." I believe it is referring to the Throttle Position Sensor. I don't know if the part is stuck "closed" or if it is broken? Unfortunately, I also don't know where this part is or how to replace it if it is even replaceable. I need someone who can verify whether I am right in assuming that the code is referring to the throttle position senor. I am also looking for some information on how to replace the part. Any help is greatly appreciated. If you are unable to provide feedback on this board feel free to email me @: acdc007elite@gmail.com (Please, no answers that are questions about my question >.>) Looking forward to some much needed clarification and help!!! -Trevor

A: Your TPS contains a Potentiometer. The Potentiometer has a pointer that is rotated on a shaft. When you put a load on your engine the pointer moves to a new location on the resistor in the potentiometer. Meaning the resistance readings tell the computer that the throttle is opening or closing back. You are going to have a reference voltage. I'm not sure what that is for your tps sensor on your Tacoma but a service manual can tell you. You can either test your TPS using an Digital Volt ohm meter or just swap it out with a new one. A flow chart when testing the sensor would be incredibly helpful. There is cases of the Computer/ecu/pcm going bad and causes the TPS to get an incredibly high voltage reading. And that can cause very sharp jerking when driving. I had that happen on my Honda last year. Your TPS should be located near the intake Manifold where your throttle cable is. I'd suggest a service manual and getting a flow chart to start with.

Q: toyota TACOMA Muffler HELL help!?
I just had a local garage replace my muffler last month for a 1996 Toyota Tacoma 2wd 4cyl tiny truck short bed...... cost me $350.00 even tho retail parts i found out were like 140. he put on a Bosal muffler assembly and it was loud as hell.. it growled at 25 in 2nd gear howled at 35 in 3rd gear and RIGHT AT crusing speedd at 63 MPH it HOWLED and vibrated... so he replaced it and i assumed he was changing brands he put the SAME CRAP on my car and this one is louder! It's at least 3 times louder than the stock toyota muffler he removed ..So what AM i supposed to do ? Loudness is subjective! i guess its how it's supposed to be?? BUT I WANT A BETTER MUFFLER THATS GOD DAMN QUIET! ...Any advice on how to handle this fiasco now? and also what's a good muffler to buy?? THANKS ! (and how to handle telling him its unacceptable.

A: Take it back and let them know you want a quiet exhaust system. Tell them that for $350 dollars, the job should be done right, and remember the customer is always right. If you are not happy, do not accept the work. You should even have them demonstrate if it is quiet or not before you accept their work, i.e., have them hold the motor at different RPM levels. It may be that the stock resonators are either bad or removed. If so, you can have them replaced by any typical exhaust shop. The exhaust may even be rubbing somewhere causing your abrasive loudness problem. If your current muffler guy isn't willing to do the job right, I would suggest going to a standard muffler shop like Midas, or Meineke, and let them know ahead of time what you want, and what the problem is.

Q: Toyota tacoma bumpers?
Was wondering if any on knows if a 1998 to 2000 tacoma front bumper will fit on a 1996 tacoma? To me looks like it should, i know grill and headlights are diff. but frame and fenders are same. Thanks

A: Sure, All Tacomas have the same body stuff (major components)

Q: which is more valuable, s-10 or Tacoma?
which is more of a value? a 1985 Blazer s-10 Carbureted V6 2.8L, or a 1996 Toyota Tacoma Fuel injected 4 cyl 2.4L???? talking mainly about power.

A: comparing the two vehicles is commonly done, both the chev and toy did not have much of an engine in 1985, so any comparison between the 85 model and the 96 model will result in the 96 getting the nod, however, a lot has been said about the reliability of the toy as compared to the chev, however it has been my experience that both are very good-the 2.8 v6 in 85 was a stop-gap engine, it is carburated, it has very little power, and they will grenade readily if you put them under stress, however, the trans bellhousing will fit a caddilac northstar v8-can you say 320 horsepower with basically the same weight? know a couple of guys who have done this swap, the product is pretty amazing, easier because you use the same transmission, different torque converter, caddy starter, need bigger radiator, but otherwise, pretty straight forward-convert to a carb intake for about 50 more horse-guy had one at the dunes, unbelievable power, all the way to 7 grand-- 96 toy has more power than the 85 2.8, however, that situation is reversed if you put a 4.3, which was available in 1985-good luck and be safe

Q: The bed on my truck is damaged beond repair. How do i remove it?
1996 toyota tacoma ,bed replacement instuctions? How to remove the truck bed?

A: After removing the taillights, mudflaps(?),and any wires or lines connected to the bed, remove the gas tank filler neck. Then there should be a few bolts underneath holding the bed to the frame to remove.

Q: I bought 1 Kenwood Excelon 10" sub, KFC-XW1024D. Which Kenwood Excelon amp should i use with it?
i have a 1996 Toyota tacoma extended cab.

A: If you only have one sub then you can not run it a 4ohms like the other poster stated, because it's a 4ohm DVC sub. So your only wiring options are 2ohn or 8 ohm. This amp would go good with your sub. Kenwood KAC-8104D $128.95 + Free Shipping http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=19264&gclid=CIHOmO6n6JcCFQHHGgod0wcEDg Then you need to wire your sub in parallel to get a 2ohm load. See here how to wire your sub and use the first diagram. http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp?Q=1&I=42

Q: 1996 Toyota Tacom horn?
Questions about the horn on my Tacoma. Background: I bought the truck about a year ago and noticed right away that the horn sounded sickly. Instead of a crisp, loud "BEEP" it would kinda go "MEerp." It finally stopped working. The fuse is fine. Under the hood I found a bullet-shaped thing high on the firewall on the passenger side (and "pointing" toward the driver side). I think it's the horn. I'm not mechanically or automotively inclined, but I can change oil, fix flats, install a new battery, etc. I once replaced the alternator on a Subaru. Questions: Is that thing the horn? It not, where is it? Is a new horn easy to acquire and replace (unplug it, unbolt it, bolt the new one on)? How much will a new horn cost? Can I get a better, louder horn if I want? Will award Best Answer ASAP! Thanks.

A: I HAD A 92 TACOMA AND THE HORN IS LOCATED ON THE BOTTOM FRONT SIDE OF THE RADIATOR SUPPORT. I THINK ON THE RIGHT SIDE. YOU CAN EASILY REPLACE THE HORN WITH A GENERIC BRAND FROM AN AUTO PARTS STORE. YOU WILL HAVE TO MAKE SOME ADJUSTMENT TO THE WIRING CONNECTION AND PERHAPS SOME ADJUSTMENT TO WHERE IT MOUNTS TO THE RADIATOR SUPPORT BUT IF YOU CAN CHANGE AN ALTERNATOR YOU CAN DO THIS JOB.

Q: why won't my 96' toyota tacoma pass a california smog test (NOx readings)?
i failed the NO portion of the test. my truck measured 1237ppm where the max is 556ppm. it passed the visual and functional areas of the test. my engine is in good condition for a 1996. has 198k miles but with routine maintenance. i read that to make a marginal vehicle pass to treat fuel with a detergent of some sort to clean injectors, etc. it also said to change the oil and make sure it is warmed up to normal operating temp. i also changed the spark plugs upon recommendation from my dad. the mechanic running the test offered to run diagnostics on it for $80 but i would rather try to fix it myself. does anyone have some suggestions as to what the problem is and what i can do to fix it. responses are greatly appreciated.

A: How can and obd2 vehicle fail Nox? They just check for codes on that vehicle unless California does something different. If your Nox is high either your catalytic converter is bad or you have an egr issue.
