Q: Leaking Rear Brake in a 1995 Toyota Tacoma?
My 95 4X4 Tacoma with 158k developed a brake fluid leak on the drivers side rear wheel well area, it drips onto the spare tire, at first glance I assumed it was a leaky brake line. A closer look tells me its not the line, but something mounted to the body that apparently pumps fluid to the rear brakes? It kind of looks like a small pump, but I'm really not sure what it is. Can't find my Haynes Manual but I'm pretty handy. Do you know what this is and how hard it is to replace? I know I'll have to bleed the brakes afterward. I'm not seeing a part listed as a cylinder other than the master cylinder. This happened after carrying 1 ton of wood pellets + my family for 30 miles, research has made me wonder if it's the brake rear proportioning valve.

A: this is the brake cylinder, bolts off and on, simple job

Q: what is the gas mileage on a 1995 toyota tacoma 4wd xtracab with the 3.4 literV6?
im buying my grandfathers tacoma that he has had since '95 and im going to drive it from california to texas! i just wanted to know the gas mileage it gets on the highway because i really dont want to ship it.

A: I wouldn't expect more than 20 mpg. In fact, if you plan on only 15 mpg, then you can more clearly plan how much $$$ you need for gas. But I'd say 15 mpg. Anything above that will be a gift. And since you'll probably be driving either I-10 or I-40, wave when you go thru New Mexico!!

Q: Toyota Tacoma water in floorboard?
I have a 1995 Toyota Tacoma with an air conditioner. Water has been poaring into the passenger side floorboard from around the condenser. The drain line is clean and my radiator is full so I know it's not the heater core leaking. Has anyone else had this problem?

A: dude its so the drain line blow compressed air up it some times they dont seem cloged when they are its on the fire wall

Q: 1995 Tacoma 2.7 leaking coolant behind exhaust Manifold.?
I have a 1995 toyota tacoma 4x4. It's leaking coolant from behind the exhaust manifold. My gut says head gasket but wasn't sure if there was any coolant lines or passages behing the manifold. It has 160K on it, maybe re-torque the head?? any Ideas?

A: Shouldn't have bought a Toyota, but it's a little late for that. ha.

Q: i have a 1995 toyota helix/tacoma 2wd?
and i bought it for 1500, it needed a clutch and it only has 122,243 miles on the tranny well i bought a new clutch and just yesterday it starts feeling chunkey when i shift the clutch is a little stiff still but then i shift the changes became smooth to chunkey within a few days , do i need to buy a new tranny now? or just have it serviced . i dont think the guy that had it before me drove it normal i think he was a hard on the transmission because the clutch on a toyota should have lasted a lot longer than that,

A: You might have the shifter bushing that went bad. This link has details: http://toyota.off-road.com/toyota/article/articleDetail.jsp?id=186539 A couple places to get the parts: http://www.marlincrawler.com/htm/transmission/trans_parts.htm (Toyota transmission guru) Look around their site too, lots of transmission info that could help out. http://www.1sttoyotaparts.com/ (cheap factory Toyota parts) Also, it might be time to change the gear oil. I use Redline MT-90 oil and it feels better shifting. http://www.redlineoil.com/products_gearlubricants.asp?productID=46&subCategoryID=17&categoryID=7 One other thing, did you resurface the flywheel when you replaced the clutch?

Q: Will stock the 1995-2004 Toyota Camry rims fit a 95-04 Toyota tacoma 2wd?
I'm refering to the stock steel wheels.

A: NO, the Camry is a 5 lug and the Tacoma is a 6 just to start with. Sorry I just saw it is a 2wd, that is a 5 lug. You will have to measure the offset to tell if it will clear.

Q: toyota tacoma??
I need to buy a toyota tacoma between 1995 and 1999 can anyone please let me know if you have any info on one and please no craiglist i already checked.

A: Try these sites. http://www.autotrader.com http://www.cars.com

Q: Ford ranger or toyota "pre" tacoma truck.?
I cant decide if i want the 1996 ranger or the 1995 tacoma. The 1996 Ford Ranger has Extra Cab V6 3.0L 5 Speed 4x4 164K Miles XL Model AM/FM Stereo, CD Player, Sliding Rear Window, Towing Pkg, Alloy Wheels. The toyota has 203k miles, the 3.0L 4x4 manual 5 speed extra cab cruise control, a/c, cd player, and off road lights. The ranger costs $3995 and the toyota costs $3995

A: dont get me wrong.... the ranger is a really good truck. but the toyota will last longer. plus... the ranger is overpriced

Q: How do I secure this motorcycle in my pickup truck?
I have a Yamaha YZF600R http://albuquerque.craigslist.org/mcy/631893638.html to transport 177 miles in the back of my truck, 1995 toyota tacoma extended cab, http://www.edmunds.com/toyota/tacoma/1995/pictures.html# how do I do this?

A: i transfer my grandsons dirt bikes every week end --he races motocross--go to a harbour freight or a store that sells tie down straps----see if this truck has anchor points at each corner of the box--if not--make some---place one end of the hook on the handle bars right side---then anchor to a hold down spot--draw the strap tight----then do the left side---it will stay upright and straight--these straps usually cost only about 8 dollars each---you will need two straps---run the front wheel up against the box --in the center of the box----

Q: 1995 Toyota Landcruiser full-time 4 wheel drive - beach use?
We are looking at purchasing a 1995 Toyota Landcruiser. It's in good shape and we'll get it checked out from a mechanic before making a final decision, but we have 2 questions: 1) What we should expect with using it on the dunes on South Padre Island's beaches. We head out there pretty much every weekend and are looking for a good 4-wheel drive vehicle since our Tacoma doesn't have it. It's a good price according to KBB.com but has high mileage at 227K, which leads to question #2. 2) How many miles will these things go for? Thanks for your time!

A: Wow that is a high millage. I think Toyota LC is the best production Japanese large SUV, I say that from my personal opinion, I have a 2002 Toyota LC, it is very reliable, and has loads of torque. About the millage, even though it is high, but as long as your mechanics say the car is fine, then it is fine, make sure that the previous owner maintenance the car routinely, because with routin maintenance no matter how high the millage, the car should be in a pretty good shape. things to watch for when checking out the car : 1. automatic transmission conditions 2. turbo conditions 3. suspension conditions 4. Transfer case condition, and differential gears conditions 4. of course the engine (make sure the piston rings and engine cylinder aren't damage yet)

Q: Truck able to pull Nitro boat?
I have a 1995 Toyota Tacoma extended cab 2wd w/ the 2.4L 4 cylinder; a friend of mine has a 17' 2008 Nitro z-6 bass boat and I was wondering if my truck is capable of pulling this boat. I think I am fine to pull it, but wondering about the tongue weight and whether or not this exceeds my truck's capacity.

A: check the towing capacity in the owners manual...that ain't the lightest boat in the world, and that 4-cylinder ain't the strongest tow vehicle either, but any truck built for towing had ought to be able to pull a bass boat. If your truck has 5,000 lbs of towing capacity, it'll handle that boat with plenty room to spare. If it only has 3,000 then it's gonna be close, I'd hesitate to try it without weighing the rig first (with full fuel tanks). Tongue weight on a boat is usually 5 to 7% of the total trailer weight.

Q: What would be the best model of Toyota 4x4 truck to get?
Should I get a pre1995 4x4 pickup or spend a little more on a 1995-1998 Tacoma? Or would it be better to fix up my old 1979 Toyota 4x4? Like a motor swap, lift kit, fix the rust and interior and all that good stuff? Which would yall suggest to do?

A: I think that depends on how much work you want to do, or money you want to spend. Modern trucks are safer and more dependable. I have a 2007 Tacoma and it's awesome! But i would never take it off-road, at least not off a trail. If I were you and I had all the time i wanted and and all the money i needed, I would buy a newer truck(or new). Then i would fix up your 79' to be an off-road badass. Don't spend too much money on the body, spend it all on the suspension, engine, tranny, diffs, and so on.

Q: what sub should i buy?
i have a 1995 toyota tacoma extended cab. it has enough room in the back for a 12 inch sub. i bought a 12 inch alpine type x and it was blown so i never got to hear it. i have a box and alpine 1000 watt mono amp already. should i buy a Kicker CVX12 2-Ohm 12" or alpine type r? or another recomendation under $200 that will add the most bass. thanks

A: i would go with kicker

A: There are lots of sources for aftermarket parts for your Tacoma truck: Bumpers Heat Shields K&N Air Intake Systems Preformance Shock Absorbers StepShields Tube Steps http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=AccessoryCatalog&catalogid=3479&siteid=213747&categoryID=58368 Take a look at the TRD web site (link above) As far as getting a sponsorship, you need to have a pretty spectacular vehicle to get businesses to spend their money on you. They want advertising returns on their investment. So far what you are describing as your project is pretty much the avaerage low rider mini truck which most of them are built with the owner's own funds. Build the truck, enter car shows and win awards and the sponsors will follow.
