Q: Would putting a t61 single turbo in an NA 1997 Toyota Supra with 122k miles ruin the engine?
This is my daily driver so i do not want it breaking down on me. But a supra without a turbo!?!?
A: if the engine, is tight has been well maintained a mild boost installation (5-7 p.s.i) ...for an increase in hp over stock of about 45% is quite manageable.
to go beyond that would require a built out bottom end (forged rods, pistons, performance rings and perhaps crank and rod bearings) and race heads or at least performance bolts.
i am curious as to why you are considering a t61 installation...this size/speed turbo is good for installation up to 560hp...
your engine is rated - stock at about 220hp, mild boost to approx 300 or 310 only require a t2 series which are good for up to 350-400hp
2ndly are you doing the installation yourself? you might want to consider buying a bolt on installation (while the parts would be cheaper purchased individually the shop labor costs for the fabrication and linkages would be much higher)and if you are doing it yourself a kit made especially for the engine is so much faster/easier to install.

in conjunction with forced induction installation you should also consider:
-cold air intake
-performance exhaust, catbacks
-in due course headers

Q: toyota supra problems?
i have a 1997 toyota supra that when you start it instantly bogs down it will run for about 5-10 seconds then stops like it cant get air or cant get exaust out. Some people told me one of the turbo was bad but im not sure
A: I had a similar problem with a jetta i had, one thing you might want to check is if the exhaust might be plugged. If your car still has a catilytic converter on it, they have a wire mesh screen in them than can get full of junk. Have a friend push on the gas while you have your hand by the air intake. If you can feel air coming out your intake that's more than likely your problem.
Q: can i swap a 2JZ GTE DOHC Engine, 5 Speed Transmission Twin Turbo Toyota Supra, into a 1997 honda civic ek?
hatch is that even possible because that would just be a beast???? can some one tell me
A: Great idea, but I don't think it will work. And it's not neccessarily because the engine just won't fit in the bay, because everyone said that about the LS1 and LS& swaps into the RX7, but there's a bunch out there.
You would have to end up relocating just about everything under the hood to the rear of the car, and have custom fabricated motor mounts.
Even if you were to accomplish that... how would you get the power to the front wheels? You wouldn't be able to.
You would have to find a way to power the rear wheels which would mean scrapping your entire chassis, and if you did that you wouldn't have a civic anymore.
But dude, if by some miracle you can make it happen, let me know! It would be the ultimate sleeper.
Q: First car as a toyota supra twin turbo 1997? im 16. dont care about insurance. i got $$$ in tha bank.?
So like i said, i dont do street racing, all that crap like what usual 16 year olds do. Its actually my uncles supra, but hes giving it to me this month and im not sure if i should take it. My parents got money for insurance. Yes no? maybe? haha advice please ^_____^.
A: Get a 1 minute car insurance quote from a top referred good local company.
A good car insurance company needs to be local, so if you ever have any problems you can stop by the office immediately. Plus dealing with someone face to face is always better business. How can a customer service rep that is hundreds of miles away know exactly what you are needing where you are?
You need to be able to communicate with your insurance agent, build a relationship with them, because you plan on staying with them for a long time. Remember their service that you are paying for is to PROTECT YOU & YOUR FAMILY.
In most cases "the average person" spends hours looking for an insurance company, you want to make sure you are choosing the best options for you and your family. So you can't blame "the average person" for making this mistake, I call it a mistake because there are better options, than spending hours on something that can be done in minutes.
I have found a site http://www.CarInsuranceQuotesCheap.com that gives you top referred local insurance providers, and their quotes in 1 minute. All you have to do is enter in your state, then your zip code and follow the instructions. It's that simple, nothing else to it.
Then you decide from those insurance companies, who is going to protect you and your family and get your business. Now deciding what insurance company to choose from is easy, all of the top referred local companies are right in front of you.
I would then contact the referred insurance agents by phone, about the possible insurance policy just quoted. As far as good companies for young drivers, every company offers different discounts for achievements in school and other things. Make sure you ask about their young driver/student discounts, you will never know what they are if you don't ask.
Make sure you check out http://www.CarInsuranceQuotesCheap.com you will be alright.
What is the worst that can happen, you find a good car insurance company, with a good rate, and a local agent in as little as 1 minute.
Be safe and take care.
Q: how do i install a intercooler on my supra?
i have a 1997 toyota supra i need to know how to install a intercooler
A: If your installing a new stock intercooler then you should just go ahead and take it to a Toyota dealer and let them do it. If you installing an aftermarket intercooler then make sure you look at your different options. Most kits will come with instructions and it can be fairly easy if you know what your doing. The hard part is really just the hoses and flushing out the old coolant. If all else fail go ahead and take it to shop since this is not that easy in less you know what your doing. Good luck.
P.S. Great choice on the Supra
Q: Supra emission testing questions (please answer if you're a Supra expert)?
Ok please answer if you know stuff about Supras
If I buy a 1997 Toyota Supra Turbo with 585hp@20psi and has 43000 miles on it will it pass emission testing in Washington. I want to know because I don't want to buy it then learn that it can't past emission and then I would have just waisted hella money on a Supra because Supras arent cheap.
A: is it possible for you to register the car in a part of the state that does not require testing?
Q: how do i get my money returned from a transaction regarding an automobile i did not get?
found and purchased 1997 toyota supra thru yahoo autos i sent a moneygram in the amount of five thousand dollars to a nigel williams via fax 1-866-816-7798 seller responded that he had receiver money and nigel williams would be handling the transaction for him. the car never came and i am out 5000$
A: You got scammed. call him and if he doesn't exist then you need to contact FBI. this almost happened to me when i sold my 66 mustang guy tried to scam me. call PD make a police report and see if you do need to call FBI. make sure you still have all your e-mail conversations you can give someone. but next time be careful. and good luck i hope you get your car. act now not later get this taken car of.
Q: supra smog check and Test only?
this one guy is selling me a 1997 6spd toyota supra wit a 3.4L stroker and i think he said a single t88 and some other nice mods for 40k btw its 750hp...
i was wondering if it would pass the smog check and the test only because i dont want to buy a car and then let it be useless is there anyway i can make it pass? or will it pass how the car currently is ?
I LIVE IN LOS ANGELES CALIFORNIA
A: what the person above me said. CA is pretty anal about smog, cuz now they have stricter CARB regulations, as well as passing not one but 3 tests, 2 sniffer tests and 1 visual. your car may be able to pass visual but it will for sure NOT pass the sniffer tests. better hope a cop doesn't pull you over either, because if the cop suspects that your running something illegal under the hood he'll have you pop it and if you don't have a CARB sticker on the aftermarket parts he'll give you a fix it ticket.
in order to pass you'd have to tone down the hp or lower the boost to like...3 psi. you'd also need to put back the catalytic converters, and a lot of the stock parts.
i have no idea how that guy passed smog, but you should ask him. maybe he has connections or knows of a way to fool the sniffer/visual tests. ask him. he may be able to help you out.

http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=681398
im not stu[pid im not gonna be drifting in the middle of main street, im gonna be doing it in my cousins farm (private property) so everyone chill
A: If there is any gas by the time you save up your nickels, the only 'car' you should be 'watching' for is a POLICE CAR!
Q: GT4 Drifting help?
if anyone who reads this knows how to tune cars to drift in this game, pls help me out. i tried my best to tune a Toyota Supra 1997 Sz-R, but all i got is slightly better handling and reduced speed. if anyone could figure out the settings for my car, and include them in ur answere, ur help will be appreciated.
A: You would have to do some extreme tuneing to get a car to actually drift the way i think your talking about. You might try getting slick tires and reducing the downforce on the rear end but otherwise I'm not sure.
Q: twin turbo ?
ok im stuck. I am looking for a fast car. Ive been looking at the nissan 300zx tt alot but the research i do the more problems i see people are having with them. I am defintley gonna put some money into the engine and suspension no matter wat i get. So here are the cars i narrowed it down to.
nissan 300zx tt, to many problems. mazda rx-7 tt, might be to small for 6ft2 guy. dodge stealth tt, heavy awd and not alot of aftermarket parts in comparison. toyota supra tt, to expensive but might be worth it hard to find one bone stock. 1988-1994 bmw m3 expensive parts and will probably have to do an engine swap. 1997-1998 corvette love the look but not the plastic. 91-93 nissan 240sx great car but hard to find stock. theres a problem with every car. My good friend says to get a 92-98 civic and rebiuld the enigine n whole buch of other stuff but alot of people have done it. Thank you for reading my ? pick one ur fav. and why. thanks

A: Stay Away From the Dodge Stealth as you said they are heavy and there and not very many parts are available. I like the R-X7, BUT!!! they have terrible cooling problems and that's why the engines are know to go out in them. The new supra's are aw some but as you said they are hard to find stock, especially in a turbo. M3 are Ridiculously over priced even for one that old. the 240 sx has alot of potential. Civics are always a great car because you can take the B18c that came out of the integra (or buy one of those) and turbo it and have a really fast car, or you could to the H24 i believe is the other engine, but it will be front heavy and turn like a tank. Plus you will loose you AC. the 300zx is a good car, i knew a guy who took a jdm non turbo and put turbos on it and it was waxing 04-05 ZO6's. that year corvette is a great car i know you said that you didn't like all the plastic but the ls1 that comes with it has so much potential and does not that alot to make it really fast. in the end it is all about how much you want to spend on a car to make it fast the cheapest way would be to go with a Civic I think because there are parts galore. if i was going to spend the money to get one i would probably go with the RX-7 because i always liked that body style and you can make them really fast, but they are known to have problems hope this helps. i have also seen people take like a 87 Rx-7 and put a ls1 in it and that would be a differnet swap and you would have a really fast car
