Q: where can i find a headlight conversion kit for my '86 toyota supra?
I have a 1986 toyota supra 3.0, it has the stock flip up headlights, i am looking to convert the flip up into the stationary headlights, i have seen them before on other cars but cant locate where to buy or even view for that matter, if anyone could locate a site online with pics and prices that would be awesome, thanks in advance.
A: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/supras/
Yahoo groups are a great place to look for info on specific topics of any kind.
Try there or ebay.
I loved the pop up lights on my Supra. I miss it like crazy.
Good luck ;0)
Q: Does anyone know how to instal a speedometer cable in a 1987 toyota supra?
My boyfriend recently purchased a 1987 supra and before he can get a safety on it he has to instal a new speedometer cable but we have no idea how he even got a book on his car and it doesn't say. So if anyone knows please help me, and please in as much DETAIL as possible i dont want him screwing up his car.
A: The cable runs from the back of the odometer to a connection on the transmission. Both ends of the cable have a threaded nut that attach to these receptors. Right ?? Just unscrew the old cable from the odometer, and tape the new cable to it so you can pull it through to the transmission. Should take about 20-30 minutes.
Q: What's The Difference Between a 5 and a 6 speed Toyota Supra?
What would you recommend? and is it possible to change a 5 speed supra into a six speed? And how much would it cost?
A: The difference between a 5-Speed and a 6-Speed won't make that big of a difference in most applications. Supras aren't exactly the cream of the crop in drag racing, or autocross. So 5 or 6 gear transmission won't affect you by a drastic amount in racing, drifting, or just general acceleration.
Q: What would win between the Mitsubishi 3000GT and the Toyota Supra?
I'm thinking about getting me one of these cars. As my next car, I have a Toyota Celica GT-S right now. I love my car a lot that I have. However, I'm going to sometime get another sport car. I'm thinking about keeping it in the family with Toyota since I already have one.
A: stay with toyota
Q: Is it possible to put a v8 in a Toyota Supra?
Yes I know a Supra has a straight 6. I am talking about a fourth generation supra (93-98) If so give me the info
without retro fit
A: Yep,
I have seen Nissan RB26DETT Inline 6's in Supras, Chevy V-8's Ford V-8's Toyota V-8's Rotary engines. And of course most recently "Top Secret" has just finished their V-12 Supra, I will link a video to it. It has a Toyota Crowne V-12 a 1GZ-FE I beleive. You can put anything into a Supra, it just takes money, as far as I know there arent very many companies that sell a kit that would make it a bolt in installation, but that doesnt mean it cant be done.
If you need to pass smog some states will allow engine swaps if the engine is newer than the car it is being put into. Then you can put an exhaust that will allow you to meet those standards. However if you are like me, you dont have to pass smog, so that isnt an issue.
Q: How much would a Toyota supra, turbo cost?
It Runs great and it it is in good condition. I am not sure how many miles but it runs great. I am planning to buy it from a neighbor.
A: check out what people are asking for these cars on EBay. Last I checked, they're going for around $29k, if it is the last body style, they are highly sought after.
Q: How do i figure out what number my 1993 Toyota Supra was off of the assembly line?
I wanna know how close it was to being 1st off the line!
A: The 12th through 18th numbers on the VIN is the production number of your car.
Q: what would be the cost (apprx) to convert my automatic transmission to a manual in my 86' toyota supra?
it's a 1986 toyota supra, in-line 6-cylinder, 3.0. I would like to know the total cost including cost of new transmission, welding for pedal, gear box etc.. and if you knew what I could possibly sell the automatic transmission for after conversion that would be nice too. thanks.
A: Sell the auto. Take the money and buy a manual supra.
Q: How much would it cost to tune up a toyota supra to be an 8 second car?
What parts would i need and how many parts would I need.
ok i see, its insane, how about a 10 or 9 second one?
A: You would probably have to invest around $50,000 to get you to 8 seconds.... maybe more. the list of parts you will need are endless... you are better off finding someone with a supra as fast as you want it, and asking them what they did to it.
Q: can i get a left hand drive toyota supra?
hi all,was just wondering if can get a lhd 93-97 toyota supra.do they come in lhd,i live in spain and a rhd would be no good.are they hard to find as i would be importing one from the uk.thanks
A: Well, you can import one from the USA too. All of our cars are left hand drive and we drive on the right side of the road but it can be expensive for the shipping. Also, why would you want a lhd...How do you drive in Spain, left or right side of the road? Anyway, like they say, when in Rome, do as the Romans do. LOL! Good luck and like I said, we all drive lhd vechicles as anything else would confuse us and we would probably end up killing someone, even ourselves. good luck.
Q: What would the running cost of a toyota supra be for say 93-96 model??
planning to buy one but with petrol prices increasing and all...i dont want to be put down by prices....so would anyone have any idea how much it would roughly cost for maintenance and all
A: I've just bought a 1993 Supra SZ (its awesome btw get one now!) and well anyway i've been pleasantly surprised by its fuel consumption, a lot of people warned me against it due to cost of repairs, fuel, age etc but its pretty comparable in fuel usage to my previous vehicles, a 2.5L GTS4 Skyline and 3.8L V6 Commodore. Maybe if you were previously driving something with a little engine you will notice the difference in costs but I am very happy with mine. And nobody who actually warned me against it had ever owned a Supra, its just stuff they'd heard off a friend of a friend type thing.
As for maintenance well my Supra is mint, I bought it off an old lady lol and she's really babied it (yay for me) so I havent needed to do anything to it apart from a wheel alignment which was just standard price what you'd expect. The previous owner claimed they never did anything to it except oil changes/services and tyres in the 6 years they owned it so assuming she was telling the truth, its pretty trouble free if you look after it.
Supras are awesome cars, good luck I hope you decide to get one :)
Q: Is a Toyota Supra a good car for new drivers?
I'm looking for cars that might be good for a friend of mine. She is just starting to drive on her own, and her parents need help looking for a car. I've started looking at Supras. Are these cars good?
A: They're great sports cars, but they might be too much to handle for a new driver. I would look for a smaller, less powerful, and a more fuel efficient car for her to start out with...Maybe Corolla, Civic sedan, or If she wants something sporty, a Civic coupe.
Q: Typically, how much would it cost to replace the valve guides on a 1989 Toyota Supra?
Particularly the labor hours it would take by a shop, or if i wanted to do it myself?
A: Do it yourself would take about 5 to 8 hours.
Less than $900 to have a shop do it.
Q: what makes a transmission on toyota supra shift gears?
I'm having trouble getting my automatic transmission to shift gears on an 88' toyota supra turbo
A: auto trans is shifted by line pressure.check fluid. if so is it dirty, you may want a trans flush done.changes all fluid in trans and a additive is usually added that may help.if problem is still present,i would lean towards the valve body.
Q: What is a good motor I can get that will work with a1994 Toyota Supra?
What are the prices for the high end motors?
What about the lower end ones?
How much would it cost to have one put in?
A: You know the Supra is one of the only toyotas you can bolt in either a Ford or Chevy small block V8. These engines are known to last for ALOT more miles than the supra engines and produce ALOT more power.
