Q: How much will it cost to get a automatic transmission change to a manual? on a 2006 Toyota Solara SE?
A: if you find a used transmission and used part in good condition that will be about 5k or so
then comes the labor. because it not just changing the tranny and that's it.
you have to work in the clutch pedal and wiring to the ecu the hydraulics for the clutch to tranny etc. that would prob cost you 3-4k because on a solara its not a well know process alot of trial and error to be made.
Q: What does the E/T on my 2006 Toyota Solara dashboard mean?
I recently got a 2006 toyota solara and unfortunately it did not come with its manual. On the dashboard it displays the time , temperature outside, and something called an E/T. It used to be that the E/T showed how many miles i had left on a tank of gas... but recently i went to fill up and now its all different!!! Instead of showing how many miles i can drive on the current tank of gas that i have, it is displaying a different number. For example it displays 10:15 and then about 20 seconds later it will show 10:16, etc. It's not getting smaller as the tank of gas goes down, its getting larger... I have no clue what this means and i would love for it to go back and display how many miles i can drive on the tank of gas. Its not the time, temperature, or anything else i can think of so please HELP!
A: it is Elapsed Time and is an option that can be selected in liew of the time or temperature. it is for timing how long you have been driving on a trip from the moment it is triggered. you will have to hold the selector for a moment to scroll to another desired option. Experiment with it and you will figure it out. The dealer may be able to order an owners manual for you for details on other items. Good Luck--T&T
Q: Which car is the best avalon, solara, or altima?
Hey im turning 16 soon and my parents said theyd buy me a car, so ive narrowed it down to three.
2000 toyota avalon, 2004 toyota solara, and a 2006 altima
which car would be the best for me to get?
insurance and gas mileage doesnt matter.
A: The Solara is a great first car......sporty, reliable, and fairly new. Toyota's last forever, and are just flat out great cars! I would chose a Altima next, but a 2000 Avalon is kinda a grandma's car, so I'd take the Solara.
Q: Is it a good time to sell my car and get something cheaper?
I have a 2006 Toyota Solara. Its in good condition, well kept except for a little bump on the bumper from a pole :/.
Anyways, I would really like to get a car that's reliable, reasonably eco friendly and CHEAP (but not cheaply made)!!
I just don't want car payments anymore!! I want a car that'll last and that I can trust. Any good ideas?? Should I try to sell my car outright? Is that even possible? Or should I just take what I can from a dealership while trading it in for something I can pay off quick???
A: NO!
You will get next to nothing for your car and end up with car payments on a different car. Unless you're trading a Tahoe for a BMX then you're better off holding on to what you have.
Q: How do I know if my rims would fit on a certain car?
I have a 1999 Toyota Camry Solara SLE and I am trying to sell the rims that were originally on the car. They are 15" toyota rims and I am not sure what years of the Camry they could fit on. I had a 205/65-15 tire size on the car, could they fit on 1999-2006 Camry's? I need help!!!
I actually have 10 people interested in these wheels.
A: yes they all fit for all camrys
Q: What is the best first car for me?
What is the best first car for me?
I have narrowed down my selection to a couple used vehicles and a couple new vehicles. I love sporty convertibles but will not get one unless it comes with a power retractable hardtop. I live in washington otherwise known as the rain state so that is why I want the hardtop. Power is not important to me. I want a reliable vehicle that gets above average gas mileage.
I have chosen a used 2006 Lexus SC430 used for $22,000.00 with 9,000 miles, a used 2006 Lexus RX400h hybrid $ 24,500.00 with 15,000 miles, a used 2006 toyota highlander hybrid $26,000.00 with 22,000 miles on it, for new I have a toyota solara coupe, Volkswagen eos, or the ford escape hybrid.
I love the idea of a hybrid but love a convertible hardtop. I have saved my money since I was 6 and I am now 15 so this car is important to me. Any opinions
A: 1st off cudos for saving ur money for such long time.2nd i would try to test drive a few of those off ur list and see which i would like best as far as the way it handles and etc. Then u might be able to make a clearer choice

A: hybrids are very good vehicles
and convertibles are pretty much summer cars
when buying a car.... u have to consider every aspect
gas prices are goin up
and convertibles arent too good to drive in the winter
but it depends on where ur living
honestly i would go with the highlander hybrid
theyre good suvs and reliable, also parts are cheap
Q: Have a good laugh:"Sports" cars according to Consumer Reports?
According to Consumer Reports, these are classified as "Sports/Sporty Cars"...Lexus SC
Toyota Camry Solara (4-cyl.)
Mitsubishi Eclipse*
2006 Mini Cooper hatchback
Car and Driver on the Solara:"not a sporting bone in it's body"
Road and Track on the Lexus SC;"nice blvd cruiser, but not meant for much than a trip to a GUCCI outlet"
The Eclispe and Mini are also novelty's at best, but nothing beyond that.
I remember this girl who try to sell me on the fact that her car had chrome rims and tinted windows, this now consituted a "sports-car".
Reminds me of SUV, only the "Sport" was a stretch at best, and probably had more than a few land on their heads acting "sporty".
I think CR is a good laugh!
A: maybe they think a 'sports' car is one that you drive to the football stadium... LOL
Q: Which car would you choose? (Pictures)?
A Toyota Solara :
(That looks like this, all black with limo tinted windows)

(Thats just a pic of a random solara. Pretend it had limo tint lol
OR
A Mazda Tribute: (Black)
http://www.auto123.com/media/videos/specs/2006/mazda/en/mazda_tribute.jpg
The mazda would be brand new. But no limo tint.
And the solara would be a few years old, still in good condition, with limo tint and I think a sound system
I'm asking because I don't know what to choose for my first car. The solara is my older brothers.
My choice was the mazda. But then my mom told me my brother is buying a new car and said I could have his old car. his car is really nice too
A: Well a Toyota is VERY reliable. My family has always had them as Trucks and they run extremely well. My first car was a Toyota hah. A mazda is a good gas mileage alternative, but so it Toyota, in most cases they oust the competition when it comes down to it. But back to reliability my parents had a Toyota from the mid seventies and it ran until they sold it back in 96, totally fine. On looks and size though if you want to bring your friends the Mazda wins in this situation seeing as the Solera you pictures is just a coupe...but I would pick the Solera looks fancier haha. But hope you like your first car it's so exciting until your mom makes you drive to the grocery store all the time :/ haha see ya.
OOH and Also remember in some states it is illegal to have Limo tint in your cars unless you have some license true story my mom got a ticket for it hah. See ya.
Q: Cds that I make for my car don't work. What's wrong?
I have a 2001 Toyota Solara and when ever I make cd's using Itunes or Windows Media Player neither of them work in my car and it just says error on my cd player in my car but in my moms car it works but she has a 2006 Honda Odyssey so im assuming that the cds are too advanced for my car but my cousin made a cd for me about 6 months ago and it worked so if anyone knows what i can do to the cds i make for my cd player or anything please answer my question. Thank You
A: Are the cd's burned as .wav format? wav's are uncompressed. I don't think 2001 model cars' cd players are able to play compressed music formats such as mps, wmv, aac etc.
With wav's you will be able to fit only ~15 songs per cd. With compressed music formats, you can fit 150+ per cd. Those are just rough numbers, not exact.
Q: How often do I have to get my car tuned up?
I have a 1999 Toyota Solara, runs great, 150k miles. I change the oil regularly and I drive it about 1000 miles a month. Maybe a little more. In 2006 I had my car tuned up and drove it about 4000miles before I moved to NYC and put it in storage. In July I moved back and added maybe 12,000 more miles on it. So, worst care scenario, I've added 20k miles to it since doing a full tune up. Including a new timing belt. When do I need to get the next tune up?
I live in LA. And when I lived in NY my car stayed in LA.
A: You didn't say where you moved to. If it's up north then it's a good idea to have your plugs and wires change around every 30K, down south give it another 20K
