Q: Which car is more fly: Toyota Solara or Avalon?
I like the body style of the Solara better but every Avalon is loaded in terms of interior quality. I'm looking at at 1999 - 2002 in either

Q: How do i start my car without the key?
its a 2002 Toyota Camry Solara Coupe.
Yeah im sure its my fckn car.
shit. if i wanted to steal a car i would just break into tht persons house and get the daym keys.
A: Replace the ignition switch... or call a lock-smith that does automotive work.
- Good Luck!
Q: How do I change brake fliud on a toyota?
2002 Camry Solara. What are the instuctions? and where is the cap for the fluid?
A: It depends on if you have ABS or not. If you don't, you need to jack the car up and remove all the wheels. Then you need to bleed the brake lines while pouring fresh fluid into the reservoir and someone else pumps the brake pedal. Just take the car to the repair shop. The brake system is an important safety component.
Instructions (for a non-ABS car):

If you have ABS, take the car to the shop. It will cost less than $70 at an independent mechanic, and $35 at Sears. Make sure to ask them to hand torque the lug nuts and watch them if you can. Otherwise they'll over-tighten the wheels and you'll end up with warped brake rotors. This is probably the number one mistake made by mechanics on Toyotas. The best time to have the brakes bled is when you have the brake pads replaced.
Q: This is a question for auto people.?
Does anyone know a good site for me to get some 15 inch crome rims for a 2002 toyota solara.
A: why would you get 15 inch chrome?
chrome only looks good big, so you need to get at least 17 or 18 inch
Q: Which is a better first car?
i'm decidng between two cars fro my 6 birthday which is coming up in june, but my mom wants to know whihc kind of car i want...i can either get her car, a 2002 Toyota Solara which will have about 65,000 miles on it, or a jeep wrangler, my dream car, even though i know the insurance is high on it...which car would be better for a first car??
A: Depends on your preference (are you willing to settle of the Solara). I don't know how much you make, but if you think you can adequately pay your insurance and still have enough money for yourself, go with the Wrangler, otherwise the Solara.
Q: My stereo has too much bass....please help!?
I have a 2002 Toyota Solara convertible. I think I have a pretty good sound system, however, my bass it turned up wayyyyyy to much! I try to turn it down on the radio myself (my bass is set at -4), but with some songs, the bass is so high/loud it makes the song sound like it's rattling. I have tried to get to the speaker in the back, however it's very difficult to get to. Could it be I have a sub in the back that I need to turn down?
A: Maybe, but before you go to great lengths, try the next simplest solution and raise the treble.
Q: My car just began blowing blue smoke, how can I be sure what the problem is?
It's a 2002 Toyota Solara with 87k mi. I haven't had any problems with it, though when I had a fuse replaced this summer, I noticed 2 valve cover bolts missing afterwards (shiny screw holes) I just had another oil change and it immediately began blowing blue smoke when I start it and also when I accelerate. The goodyear place put in MORE oil, as it is burning it. There are no leaks. They accused me of not getting oil changes. I do this at 7000 miles (as per book)as I drive turnpike speeds mostly. They're saying valve cover gasket, and maybe valves now. Why would this be all of a sudden like this, and how much does each step cost, with an honest business?
Is it really worth fixing? It needs new sneakers, subwoofer, and maybe paint to look really sweet again.
A: Trust me with this. There is a difference between internal leak and external leak. Missing valve cover bolts will let oil to leak out to engine. You may see smoke from the engine bay but never from tail pipe. From my experience, sudden blue smoke after oil change is usually from over filling the engine with oil. If your engine is V6, it should take about five and a half quarts. Pull the dipstick out and check the level. If it’s way over, you found the problem. Otherwise, you probably have an internal leak. If there is no tapping or knocking noise, I suspect the engine may be jelling which let oil to leak through valve seals (they are different from valve cover gasket) to combustion chamber. Some Toyota V6’s are known to jell when they are not maintained regularly. Take it to a Toyota dealer and get an accurate diagnosis. It may cost about $50~100. Misdiagnosed, you could spend thousands more for parts you don’t need. But remember, check the dipstick/oil level first!
Q: I'd like to buy a used car around $6000~7000?
I'm going to buy a used car and I picked two used cars.
Can you guys choose better one ? and reason what is better?
1) 2002 Toyota Solara, miliege:80000
Price: $6900, First owner: Corporate lease vehicle
no salvage title
History:- Right side impact with other motor vehicle. Right side primarily damaged
-Crash with an animal, minor problem.
(2) Nissan 2000 maxima GXE, miliege 120,000
price: $5900
one owner, no accidents reported.
I want to buy a car which has reliable and less trouble.
I don't care about the performance of the car. I just don't want to
spend too much money for fixing for the car.
please choose better one : )
I'll appreciate u.
A: If the Solara's accidents weren't serious, and the damage has been fixed, I would go with that one. You should take it to a mechanic to have it checked out thoroughly. It wouldn't be a bad idea to get the frame checked too, since the car has been in a crash.
Q: Selling a car at a hit to my loan?
I'm just curious as to what my options are to sell my car. I still owe about 3/4th of my loan (a 2002 Toyota Solara) but i have to sell it, i just can't afford it right now.
What are my best options? If i sell the car at a hit, can i continue paying the arranged monthly payments until i can come up with the rest of the payment? Should i personally finance? I don't know how i would go about selling a car if i still owe money for a loan and i have to sell it for a hit.
Anyone know?
Thanks Uncle Jed, that's what i was afraid of, with the times as hard as they are now, i don't know how easy that's going to be. But i suppose i could take the hit and pick up a personal loan, then pay off the remainder with a personal loan?
A: You can sell it for whatever you can get for it. But the loan will have to be paid in full, even if you have to make up the difference before they will release the title for the new owner........md
Q: Would anyone recommend a Toyota Solara with 100K?
I just purchased a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero GL with 72,000 miles. However, I am unsure of the reliability (Yes, I know foreign cars are more reliable). It looks great, but I'm starting to doubt my purchase. Have had no problems yet. I'm thinking about a Toyota Solara between the years 1999-2001 with 100K. Recommendations?
A: I am a ASE certified auto technician with 20 years of experience. Toyotas are very dependable , if you can verify service history including oil changes & routine maintanance this car should have plenty of life left. The alero is getting to the mileage that it will present some service issues. I would ask seller for info on history or try carfax etc. With proper maintanance you should be able to run the toyoyta about 300,000 miles.Hope this helps in your decision.
Q: Fuel mileage better or worse on new cars?
I currently own a 2002 Toyota Solara SLE V6 convertible. In the past I have owned three 1969 Cadillac Deville convertibles, a 1970 Oldsmobile 98 LS, several Lincolns Dodge vans and F-350 pick up trucks. Not what you would consider economy vehicles. The worst (fuel economy wise) got 16 miles per gallon (Dodge van), the best (this was one of the Caddys) got 22. Now if a behemoth, 6000 pound, monster motor, highway cruiser can get that kind of fuel mileage, why does a 3500 pound, popcorn fart powered Japanese POS only get 17 mpg? At 90K the car is more regularly maintenanced. Mobil 1 synthetic oil, filter changed and lube every 3K, Transaxle serviced every 10K, tires properly inflated & rotated every 3K, wipers, air & cabin filters every 4 months (just a sample). By the way, this is my first Toyota and definitely my LAST Toyota. And yes, I did get 22 MPG with a 69 Caddy Deville convertible 472 V8 4BBL, should give you an idea how hard I drive. Just keep your foot out of the grill.
A: I have a 68 olds toronado 455 fwd that gets 24 mpg and it weighs 6100 lbs dry! Now thats 24 mpg or 24 gpm depending on how much of a hurry you are in. I wouldnt own a rice burner and I feel for you man I really do... sell it to some college kid and buy an old american car.
Q: Do you think I have anything to be concerned about after accident?
Unfortunately last night I got into a collision with my friend and I am not going to be seeking any bodywork because my car appears to be damage free after the impact besides a few scuffs. My question is could there be internal damage caused from the following accident? I have a 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis and I t-boned a Toyota Solara in the rear quater panel with my front bumper at about 7-10mph. Upon inspection the toyota has a lot of damage to the soft metal on the side and my car appears to only have scuffs on the front bumper cover. Could I have really damaged anything elseI can't see at this kind of speed? Or do you think it is just the scuffs I have to worry about and not worry. I just bought the car :(
A: I would doubt if anything else is damaged. If the pait is cracked, it would mean that the panel had bent, but if the panel didn't bend, then nothing else can be damaged.
Q: How are the Toyota Solaras? Are they good cars?
I was thinking of buying a used solara. 2001 or 2002. Have they had many problems?
A: Yes, they are good cars. Until the 2007 model year, the Solara was on the same platform as the Camry, so you are basically looking a 2-door Camry.
I think it is definitely a car to consider. Check out edmunds.com to see if there are any recalls and customer experiences.
Q: Who is at fault in this car accident?
Happy Thanksgiving, Unfortunately last night me and my friend got into a car accident with each other after dark last night. We were on a side road at night after dark. I was stopped in the middle of the street and my friend was parked at the curb in front . My friend suddenly tried to make a U-Turn just as I started to go so I smashed into his quater panel on the drivers side as he was sideways across the street. There is extensive damage to his 1999 Toyota Solara and no Damage to My 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis. The question is who is at fault him making the u-turn/ 3 point turn across the street or me who drove into the side of him while going straight ahead. Your help is greatly appreicated!!!
A: I think he'd be at fault because if he was making a u-turn he should have made sure the road was clear first. But I'm no expert.
Q: Not a good night before Thanksgiving Who is going to be at fault for this?
Ok so here goes last night me and my friend were out and about with our two seperate cars going to pick up people to go out to Boston for the night. Unfortunately there was a incident. My friend and me while on a side road picking up friends got into a accident with each other but who is at fault for this? I was already in drive with my foot on the brake in the middle of the street in my car waiting to go straight ahead my friend was about 25 feet ahead parked at the curb. Just as I started to go ahead thinking he knew to go straight as well I realised too late my friend decided to pull a 3/point U turn in the other direction causing me to smash into his rear driver side quater panel of the car with my front bumper as he was sideways (think roadblock) in the street and I was driving straight ahead. My car a 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis is not damaged his car a 1999 Toyota Solara got really extensive damage to the quater panel driver side. Who is at fault for this :(!!!!
In MA where we live the driver's manual states as one of the AT-FAULT accidents as making a u-turn or left turn into traffic is automatic at fault and yes we were on a quiet residential narrow street when he whipped a U-turn.
A: He is. You had the right of way. He has to wait for you to go by before he pulls out.
