Q: im not sure which to buy a 2005 toyota sienna or a honda odyssey?
they both have pros and cons but which one is best buy?

A: It really depends on what you want out of the car. Like izzie said, the Sienna is more rugged and the Odyssey rides better. The Toyota is more like a truck and the Honda is more like a car. Whichever suits your needs and preferences. I would personally choose the Honda because I love the way they drive.

Q: 2005 Toyota Sienna Timing Belt?
I just bought a 2005 Toyota Sienna with 120k miles on it. How do I know if the timing belt needs replaced (or if it has already been done?). I bought it from a dealer who didn't have the service records. If I take it to a shop how can I avoid being taken by a dishonest mechanic? Thanks for your help.

A: If you go to the Toyota factory dealer in your area, they can run the VIN on their dealer link to locate the dealer that originally sold the car. They in turn can look up the records for the vehicle and if the car was maintained at a factory dealer, find out what has been done for maintenance. You can also take the timing belt cover off and look at how old the timing belt is. A newer belt does not have excessive wear marks on the outer side of the belt and the teeth on old belts get rounded off. If you still are not sure, just do the belt and replacing the water pump at 120,000 miles is a smart thing to do too.

Q: I have a 2005 Toyota Sienna and the rack and pinion is damage. It is worth the expense? Or I should trade in?
It has 47,000 miles and no warranty

A: its probably worth fixing because the vehicle isnt high milage and still very good car. its still worth alot of money. and switching to something else would cost you more than the repair plus trading it in with that would bring down the value even more.

Q: engine light came on my wifes 2005 toyota sienna?
I have a code reader and the code was p0442 can someone help me and tell me what the code is??

A: P0442 - evaporative emissions leak - possible causes: 1. gas cap not installed correctly - turn it until it clicks 2. faulty charcoal canister in the evaporative emission system 3. faulty fuel fill tube - Toyota has experienced manufacturing problems with the fill tube on several different vehicles. I believe that there is actually a TSB on it.

Q: programm new ignition key for an 05 sienna?
Hello, I just purchased a used 2005 Toyota Sienna, came with one key so I purchased the remote and programmed it, but the ignition key has a transponder chip, anyone knows how to program the new ignition key?

A: Dealership. Special equipment required. Bring proof of ownership and your VIN#.

Q: How many miles can one gallon take me?
It is a Sienna Toyota 2005 model. How many miles on one gallon in local? How many miles on one gallon in highway?

A: well its rated at 17 city, 24 highway http://www.fueleconomy.gov/FEG/noframes/21245.shtml hope that helps! My uncle has one, he gets about 20mpg on it average. However you can get as little as 10mpg, or as much as 25+ depending on how you drive it.

Q: can I refinance my auto loan?
I have a 2005 toyota sienna with 60k miles and still owe 14k @7%. Will anyone refi this or should I use my tax refund to pay most of it off?

A: With model and miles, it would be doubtful if you could get better interest rate than 7%. Best to take tax refund and pay most of it off.

Q: is the toyota powertrain warranty that comes with a new car transferable to the second owner?
I just bought a 2005 Sienna with 16k miles. In the process of trying to sell me a 3rd-party extended warranty, the finance manager at the dealer (not a Toyota dealer) told me that only the 36k warranty was transferable, and that the 60k powertrain warranty was not. Since I don't want a crappy 3rd party warranty, I turned him down. Now I'm considering buying the Toyota extended warranty, but I would like to know what I'm starting with when weighing risk|reward ratio. Thanks for your help! ;-)

A: Whatever you do, buy the warranty from the dealer, you will KNOW it's an actual toyota warranty vs. a 3rd party which might require you to bring the car elsewhere after the original one is expired. Usually new car warranties follow the car, not the buyer.

Q: Should I put 44 PSI tires on my minivan?
I need to replace the tires on my 2005 Toyota Sienna, and the manufacturer recommendation is P215/65R16, 35 PSI. But I talked with my father-in-law yesterday and he says he would get 44 PSI for better mileage. Is he right? I'm getting the tires from Sam's Club, FIL said to look for Toyo brand if they have them. Other thoughts? I live in Utah so we get snow, but I only put about 12,000 miles a year on the van. To clarify, he's not suggesting I buy 35 PSI tires and overinflate them. What I thought he said was that you could get tires that are the same size but are made to hold 44 PSI instead.

A: The psi on your door jam is the recommended amount, you will get better gas mileage at a higher psi but it will cause irregular wear on the tires. If you want to get the best gas mileage look into nitrogen inflation (thats a whole different story). Sam's club offers a warranty, this warranty is voided with overinflation wear. They don't offer Toyo, but I would go with either michelin or bf goodrich. Just stay away from Goodyear, I used to work there and we got so many returns on those pieces of junk I think we lost money altogether. And remember to save your receipt, put it in your glovebox. If ANYTHING goes wrong with the tires you can go to ANY Sam's Club and they will take care of you...it really is the best place to buy tires. I have BF Goodrich on my vehicle and they are good for 70,000 miles...

Q: I got runflat tire on my car, can I switch to reg tire?
2005 toyota sienna minivan

A: I have read that there is a difference in the lip on the rim of your wheel between regular and run flat tires. If that is true then you may have to switch wheels to run a regular tire. Be sure and ask a reputable tire shop before you go and buy a set.

Q: Is it possible to get a car loan with a FICO score of 500, but $10,000 to put down?
We have child #3 on the way in about 6 weeks, and need to get a bigger car. Wanting something reliable and practical...something that will last a while. We are thinking 2004 or 2005 Honda Oddysey or Toyota Sienna. Just got a big chunk of $$ from my old job, and want to use $10k down as it would be about 50% of the total cost. We will be using the remainder to pay down/off other debts, but we do not have time to wait unitl the payoffs are reflected in the credit score. Do I have hope of getting a decent van at this point? Any ideas/'suggestions?

A: You should have no problem when you're putting down that much money. . .... just make sure its the best use of your funds and that you're setting your family up to become debt free and start saving money.... you may find it would be better to get a 10,000 van (you can find plenty of low mileage options for that) and start saving money every month instead of paying $300 a month for a payment. $300 a month adds up to $3600 in a year!! Think of a typical 5 year auto term, and you could have $18,000 in the bank and be driving a paid-off vehicle.

A: Any vehicle that can pass a simple tech inspection can race. Just pay your $10-20 entry fee and have fun.
