After 2 days of frequent opening doors to load car after closing summer place, also heavy rain from passing hurricane car made whirring sound but didn't start. Lights, power doors worked. A day later same. Does this mean a jump start won't work? Garages are closed on Sunday here.

Q: 2001 toyota sienna mini van question?
i recently replaced the back hatch door handle and i had to take apart abit in the back hatch door to do so. after doing so the van started locking all the doors when i start it and when i turn it off the driver door unlocks. is it suppose to do that. i bought it used so i don't know if this is a safety feature that didn't work until i fixed the door or what. if you know for sure please let me know.
A: THIS IS A FEATURE THAT STOPS WORKING WHEN ONE OF THE DOORS HAS A MALFUNCTION.YOU COULD HAVE THIS FEATURE TURNED OFF OR HAVE IT CHANGE TO LOCK WHEN YOU SHIFT TO DRIVE AND UNLOCK WHEN YOU PLACE THE SHIFTER IN PARK.EVIDENTLY WHEN YOU FIXED THE HATCH DOOR THIS FEATURE RESUMED WORKING.THIS IS NORMAL OPERATION SO DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT.GOOD LUCK

Q: 2001 Toyota Sienna Le?
Does anyone know how does air get into Air filter in the air filter box? I checked the box, but there is no opening or hole for air to suck in. Does anyone know?
I mean how does air get into the air filter box??? I checked but there is no open hole (not even small one) for air to get into the air filter box. There is only tube on the top that leads air into the engine.
A: There is a hole in the front, bottom portion of the lower half of the box. There is a black plastic duct that bolts with 2 screws just above the radiator. If you follow that duct you will see it goes to a square hole in the airbox. Remove the filter and run your hand around the inside front and you will find it.
Q: 2001 Toyota Sienna CE pinging problem.?
This vehicle has 89K miles, and developed a pinging problem about a year ago when running regular. The problem goes away when running Premium, but at today's prices, it 's rough. So far have done fuel system cleaning and valve adjustment. Still same problem. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!
A: Toyota recommends premium fuel for these vans. I know that premium fuel costs more but engine work or even a burnt out catalytic converter will cost you more if you're running anything less. If you're not aware of it requiring premium, look a the Camry V6 or Lexus ES300. Premium fuel is mandatory on those two cars and the Sienna is basically the same vehicle with a van body. The pinging occurs because you're running the lower octane fuel. 2004 was the first year Siennas are suppose to run on regular unleaded.
Q: removing the manifold off a toyota sienna?
there is a problem with my spark plugs in the 2001 toyota sienna and i need to learn how to take the manifold off to get to the back ones could someone show me a link that would help me or tell me how please
A: lol if you can't get to them how do you know they are bad? I would never remove the manifold to get to them you just have to try harder. its tight but you can do it.
Q: toyota sienna power steering?
I have a 2001 Toyota Sienna, and the power steering makes a loud squeal when turning the wheel. I checked the fluid and put in about a cup worth. I just had all the belts replaced. Any ideas ?
A: yes. it's belt tension. the belt is too loose, and when you turn the wheel, the power steering pulley gets harder to turn, thus the belt slips around it causing that loud, embarassing squeal. find the tensioner and tighten it up.
Q: toyota sienna 2001 is having heavy smoke.?
A: i just remembered that toyota has a issue with the 3 liter v6 engines having oil sludge problems. so drive it (if possible) to the dealer and they just might put in a new short block engine in it and clean out your heads and install them on the new block. i think your year sienna falls under the sludge engine issue that toyota has. if anything head to the dealer and tell them your problem and ask them about the sludge issue with the 3 liter and see if they will give you a new short block. i dont know if this will cost you but this is a problem with the engine that toyota didn't even know about until people started putting a good amount of miles on the engines.
i have seen at least 40+ Camrys/siennas get new short block because of the sludge issue
best of luck
Q: I got 'Check Engine' light after filling my gas tank on a recent long road trip on a Toyota Sienna 2001 LE.
After travelling about 150 miles I had 'Autozone' check the code which came out to be 'P0420' (Catalytic converter working below threshold level). I had this erased using the scanner and now even after having driven more than 700 miles the CHECK ENGINE light has not come back.
Any reasons for this? Does this mean the catalytic converter is working fine and the light was an error? I dont like to see that light and I have a feeling it will come back soon. Comments please...
A: When this occurs shortly after filling up, the usual problem is just bad gasoline. I have seen this a lot in the past five years, but never seen it before then. Some refiners are either topping off or some E85 is getting mixed in with other gas sometimes.
If the engine light does not come back on, don't worry about it. The 'check engine' light has to do with emissions, it does not actually mean that there is anything wrong with your engine. The usual causes are:
1) Bad gasoline.
2) Leaving the gas cap off or the gas cap is not tightened properly.
3) Transmission problems.
So if the car is shifting fine and you still have your gas cap, you can disregard the light unless you see it more than once. Don't buy gas at that station ever again, and make sure you turn your gas cap so that you hear three clicks to ensure that it is tight enough.
Q: Toyota Corolla Car steering problem for left and right turns?
I have a 2001 Toyota Sienna. The car drives straight and the power steering fluid level is fine. But when I turn right or left, there is some slack or feeling of free space on the streering wheel before the car strarts responding and the wheel turns. Any help will be appreciated
A: Check the "A" Frame bushings and also the "Free Play" in the steering that can be adjusted with adjustment screws on the steering box but I suggest you have a good shop or the dealer's shop do that.
Q: I need to know the GVW of a Toyota Sienna XLE Van? (2001 or approximate)?
That is year 2001 or a year close to that.
A: 3932 according to NADA.
