Q: Any thoughts on a 2000 Toyota Sienna LE?

A: Like the Lexus ES and RX and the Toyota Highlander, the Sienna is based on the V6 Camry. That means the ride is very similar to the Camry and these vans are the quietest vans on the market. The only concern i have is for the engine sludge issue that has arisen on that model. A buddy of mine had a 2000 LE and he had to have the headgasket replaced because of the problem at 77,000 miles. Another friend of mine has one as well. I told him to just run a can of engine flush every 15,000 miles. He followed my instructions and hasn't had a problem in the 210,000 miles he's owned his. Heck, can't complain when the can only costs $10 at an auto parts. You just run it in your car for 10 minutes before an oil change- that's it. When the oil is drained out, it will take whatever gunk is in there out with it. Look at your other options. The Odyssey and Caravan of that vintage has transmission problems that aren't preventable. At least a flush an average of once a year will keep yours from having any problems. You really can't do any better in a minivan.

Q: 2000 Toyota Sienna, The A/C stopped working today.?
Are there fuses I should check first? I have a meter, and am capable. I know I could add some refrigerant, but how do I go about finding where it leaked out from? What will it take R134? Any help is appreciated. Thank You

A: what do you mean by quit working? does it still blow air? warm air? cool air? any speeds? does the compressor come on, answer some of these, and i will walk you through some diagnostic steps, and yes it is R134A, but finding a leak may require some special tools, but we will cross that bridge when we get there.

Q: how many o2 sensors does a 2000 toyota sienna have?

A: 3 two before the cat & one after the cat.

Q: 2000 Toyota Sienna power steering belt?
Can't find the tensioner, the belt broke off. Anyone know? Yea yea :P

A: Hey, guess that's why you shouldn't abuse the family van!

Q: 2000 Toyota Sienna Minivan?
Have to say, this has been the most dependable vehicle I've owned. Never has been in the shop except for maintenance. She has 54k miles and am the original owner. Anyone else have a Sienna? What problems have you had, if any?

A: My sister just traded hers in with over 100k, there was no real problems, I know I am a Master and did all the work on it. A couple sets of brakes and tires, a timing belt and one Power steering pump started to leak. Other than that it was bullet proof. Still running great when she traded it in. The biggest problem I have seen with them is Cust neglect. Some people don't take care of them and they still run, just burn a little oil then.

Q: how mouch weight can a 2000 toyota sienna van can hold?

A: I don't know specifcally but look at the vehicle information sticker that is stuck to door jamb in the driver's side door. Be careful because since the sienna is a unibody construction (like a car) it is more prone to bend if the weight is not spread out (ie by carrying cement bags etc)

Q: 2000 Toyota Sienna-Power door trouble?
I'm having major problems with my power door. It won't open when I press the button, but it does close when I want it to. However, it can never close tightly enough, and sets off the "open-door" alarm when I start the car. Everytime this happens, I have to force the door open manually, and slam it shut to stop the alarm. I went to the dealer, but was told that it would cost several hundred dollars for them to remove the door and figure out what's wrong. Does anyone know what's wrong, or what I can do? btw. It's a 2000 Sienna XLE

A: try oiling or greesing all the hinges levers and rollers on the doors they are neglected when it comes to being serviced .........moving parts just like inside and engine the need some kind of lube

Q: Follow-up question on 2000 Toyota Sienna A/C repair.
Can the condenser be repaired? Service writer said no because the high-side of the A/C system runs at 200 psi. Is this true? Could the condenser be brazed or repaired by a radiator shop. It's beginning to look like I'm gonna be out the $650...... damn :(

A: yes it can be repaired. go to A/C car mechanic, not to a junk shop.

Q: serpentine belt routing 2000 toyota Sienna?

A: It is very common that a Toyota with a serpentine belt will have a diagram of the proper routing right under the hood. Check the hood itself, the radiator cowl, fender wells, etc. I would bet money it's there. They are no longer difficult to change if you follow the diagram. I think there is but one idler or spring loaded pulley that you can loosen and the belt will go right on. Make sure you start it with the "teeth", or ribs in the proper orientation (that is, not inside out), or the belt will wear away and break virtually overnight.

Q: Chains on a 2000 Toyota Sienna...?
What would an average cost be? What do I need to know about chains for my type of vehicle? Thanks!

A: Get a set of cables instead of chains. They are much easier to put on and do a good job. You can buy them at a car parts place for under$50. I had a 2000 Sienna and the engine has too much power for driving in snow. I couldn't go anywhere without spinning. Another problem with chains is if a cross link breaks, it will tear up the side of the fender pretty quick.

Q: 2000 Toyota Sienna A/C stopped working.?
Ok, the a/c stopped cooling the air. Compressor doesn't come on, fans still work. I haven't checked any fuses yet. The HVAC tech at work can loan me a freon detector. I looked under the hood and the only "port" I see for the A/C system has a small plastic green cap on it that states "1 psi max" . Is this the re-charge port? Also, if I do have a leak, how do I fix it? Just tighten what ever is loose, or would I have to start brazing or soldering?

A: I recommend you take it in to a quality local independent repair shop so that they can evacuate the complete A/C system and check for leaks. Then their refrigerant recovery machine reinstalls the filtered refrigerant into your A/C system. http://www.iatn.net/shopfinder/ http://www.aa1car.com/carleyware/library.htm

Q: Toyota Catalytic Converter on 2000 Sienna?
I have a 2000 Sienna with 160,000 miles. Received Diagnostic Code p0420 -- Catalytic Converter about 6 months ago. Had the cosde reset and ignored it and it diodn't come baclk for 6 months until yesterday. Same code. Should I do the same thing and ignore it, get the converter relaced ($1,500) or buy a new car? Thanks for your thoughts.

A: you need to ask yourself this question; Do I love this vehicle and want to keep it for another 5-6 years? That will help you answer your question. The vehicle will go farther, but 160k is a point at which parts are starting to wear out--not just the catalyst. Lots of miles on the transaxle, steering rack, waterpump etc. If any or each of these go out they easily can cost from $700 for w/pump-timing belt to $3000+ for the trans. They may last longer, but if it happened tomorrow....You may be able to get a good trade now with car sales being what they are. Many offering 0 percent financing. Something to think about.

Q: Engine check on my Toyota Sienna 2000. P1130 and 1135 when i went to Autozone for free check.?
Both codes' probable cause is open/short ckt condition and poor electrical condition. tried first to check on battery terminals and + terminal shows signs of detoriation and somewhat loose. I cleaned the terminals and tightened it up. Re start the engine and engine check indicator's lights gone. The question is have i just reset the "computer box" after removing the battery terminals? Anyways if it just reset it and the engine check lights up back its not battery terminal related, well i dont know what to do next. thank you. to all tnx. and andyjpol autozone gave me a printout of the diagnostic test and probable causes and both showed open/short ckt condition and the other one is poor electrical connection. And addtl info is that, after removing the terminal and cleaned the corrosions on it, the engine check was gone. but after a couple of miles (< 10 mi ) the engine check lits up again. i guess i only reset it. and my next move will be to change all O2 sensors , since my van is about 95K miles on it. again. tnx.

A: 1996 and newer vehicles have an obd2 diagnostic system, they cannot be reset by dissconnecting the battery only by having a code reader hooked up to clear them. Im courios however, did those codes say bad connection on the battery, or just bad connection on something?
